I think theyre replacing the 2.2 with a smaller diesel. Maybe the 3.2 will be replaced eventually with the 3l V6 going into F150

The 2.7 EcoBoost puts out roughly 242kw @5000rpm and 540nm @2750rpm
The current 3.2 Diesel 147kw @3000rpm & 470nm @ 1750-2500rpm Certainly will transform the driving experience if they go that way.

I look at the TRD hilux with a sticker pack and a couple accessories, with no added power.
I look at the Navara N-Sport, as above. I reckon this will be just another sticker pack with a couple accessories and same old engine. Would be happy to be wrong! I'd need a new job that pays a hell of a lot more before I could get anything like it whatever the result. |

Is the F-150 Raptor a sticker pack? No, among other things, it's got a 450HP ecoboost engine and off-road racing shocks as standard. The Ranger Raptor would have a similar philosophy applied. It is a Ford Performance product, the branch of Ford that released the Fiesta ST, Focus ST, Focus RS, Mustang GT350 and of course, the 24hr of Le Mans winning GT - none of these are just another "sticker pack"

A p5 ltd had 4 wheel disc brakes in 1973. And a $70000 dollar Wildtrack has drums in 2017 and again in 2018. Come on. Is it taking that long to catch up.

you have to think like a Ford accountant.
1000 dummies will pay 80k for one with the crappie same engine. this equals profit. then release new one with better engine In 2 years and same people will upgrade to that one. i still can't figure out how you can pay 60k for a jeep grand Cherokee limited with a great diesel engine 8 speed zf box great interior all the bells and whistles and outs pretty durable (mine is a bush car and is in heaps better Nick than my falcon ute was at 150000km). compared to the ranger xlt for the same money there is definitely something amiss |

Both vehicles in my signature below cost the same brand new. One feels like it's worth twice the amount of the other one. If I were to buy a ute again I would get a base model second hand one. |

They all claim massive towing ability. 3 ton towing (most ads with half a dozen **** in the small writing below.) The tray or tub hanging out back behind the rear wheels (centre of gravity) would surely create handling problems when it has any decent load aboard. Let alone one tonne. Handling wise (unloaded) It must drive like a truck and not have the comfort of a car. So its not a proper truck or ute really and its not a proper car. The ones I have driven all feel the same.

I'm a carpenter, I need a tray back. I need more then two seats. I'd like to tow a trailer of material. Camping and hunting is best done by access of 4wd tracks. And the simple fact of show me a sedan or wagon that looks better than its ute equivalent |

Mind you, I'd get one if you could fit something 1.4m wide in the back (gokart)... they're all too narrow. |

I think youre going to struggle finding something with 1.4m space between the wheel tubs. Take 300mm for each wheel and youre already at 2m width. Most manufacturers wouldnt be worried about more than a 1.2m pallet

Saw the Raptor yesterday afternoon camouflaged storming on a backroad between Melton and Werribee. Looked mean even wrapped up.

You can see the watts link and disk brakes in this shot...LINK
Good thing Ford doesn't build performance Rangers just to impress cynical non-buyers, I hope this is everything those buyers have been asking for because that will put Ranger over the top. Last edited by jpd80; 16-09-2017 at 05:52 PM. |

Seeing as a wildtrak is already low 60's what do you guys think they'll price this at? Would have to be high 70's you reckon?

If it's gets its own engine that it could be a lot more expensive you would presume.
