My list of ugliest cars (in no particular order):

Subaru Vortex

Saabs

Citroens (those old ones)

Renaults

Ssangyong Musso

VB, VH, VK and VN Commies (I remember a quote in a mag once about a VN Commie - something along the lines of it looking like it was designed based on a piece of clay after it was dropped from Holden HQ roof)

Toyota Crown and Cressida and pre 1980 Coronas (I owned a 1975 Corona in white)

Old Mazda 929

AU series 1 base Falcon

XD and XE Falcons (sorry)

ORIGINAL Hyundai S-Coupe (as it was called then I think)

Lada Niva

Lleyland P76

PT Cruiser

FSM Nikki/Fiat

Daihatsu Sirion

Daewoo Lanos

Seat Cordoba

I reckon some of those older cars and some of the European cars need to be looked at in their time and style context. Rather than ugly, perhaps they were innovative in style, outlandish, extreme and controversial.

How someone could think a pre XD Falcon is ugly is beyond me, as with new Falcons... but everyone has different tastes I guess.

I agree with XRchic's list, with emphasis on the P76 :

My turn to admit one thing wrong. Its actually a 1936 Tatra T87. Nothing to do with communism or Russia. (The russians can't design cars - that why they turned to Fiat for their designs!) As XRchic says some of those European designs were very innovative so its no surprise its mistaken for a postwar car. Same applies to the P76 when you look at the Holden and Ford at the time which were from an earlier era. The wedge shape was picked up big time.

Some things boil down to a person's taste. Some of the cars in this thread (e.g. the Citroen DS) most people wouldn't judge ugly at all. We have a Toyota person pestering us on the Territory forum who likes Toyota's bulging 4WD designs and thinks the Territory should look more aggressive like them. There's no accounting for taste!

I'M not knocking the P76 - I used to have one!

Stylist what do you mean 80s Range Rover? This the same as original 1970s - classic design. Don't you mean the unfortunate redesign in 90s?

Prado's probably the ugliest manmade object on the planet IMHO. 'A' class Mercedes (the little one that looks like a toilet brush holder) also takes the cake.
