Can anybody confirm for certainty about the XR8 getting the launch control?

Apparently Ford / FPV / Prodrive calibrated and changed over to this new Bosch 9.0 ecu which brought about all the enhancements for DSC, Launch control etc etc.
Given that (basically) the R-Spec is coming into the XR8 and ECU follows, wouldn't it be there...?

Cheers

Surely not a deal breaker? A bit of grey matter would be better.

Latest Wheels magazine says it does have launch control but some members on here are saying it doesn't (after speaking to Ford employees).

We will find out soon enough, I imagine there will be some XR8's in customers hands within a week or two.

I placed my order weeks ago... I'm just trying to work out exactly what it's got...

If it doesn't get the launch control - what then? Traction control? Bit backwards.
Other one - exactly what bits of rspec suspension? Bushes, arms, bars and all the goodies? Or just shocks and springs?

To an extent enjoying the anticipation.....

^^^^What ever happened to the good old 6k side step pro start? On a more serious note however, it would be odd if they leave launch control out of the package, but stranger things have been known to happen.

Again, according to Wheels " the entire Rspec suspension, including launch control and 275 rears"

Unbelievable. I spoke to Ford Marketing only 2 Day's ago enquiring when a dealership in South East Queensland would have stock in show rooms to enable people such as myself who have pre ordered a new XR 8 to come in and have a bit of a captain cook at the the new model and maybe even organise a test drive of a demo. I was advised that stock would not be available until at the least the 1 December 2014 model release date.

Go figure because clearly new vehicle stock is now being released!

I think that given the XR8 is getting pretty much everything else off the r-spec plus a new ecu, one would think they put in launch control to complete it...as so far anything with 275 rears (r-spec and GTF) has had launch control...needless to say it will still be an awesome package overall if it doesn't have it.

I havnt seen it anyware in the spec sheets, im presuming it doesnt have it, also the gtf has something thats adjustable in the rear suspension which the xr8 doesn't have, I don't exactly know what though, also I dont think there is the engine on push button that fpv's have always had, no biggy though. Also no perimeter alarm.

The brochure (not that it looks to be very accurate in some areas) only shows DSC for the entire range.

Just this morning saw a brand new G6E-T and an XR6T, both in winter white (interiors covered in plastic like all new fords). Those who say the rear and front look weird really need to see them in the flesh, they look perfectly proportioned, and have a really tough stance.
Now having a fight between passion and common sense not to order a G6E-T.
Damn you Ford, damn you for bringing out the impulsive buyer in me.

Hmm, having doubts:-

1. No launch control, shock horror, means one has to co-ordinate a clutch and an accelerator pedal IN UNISON - that's prehistoric....really not that many drivers that old school out there is there....

2. The weight- I mean come on- 1,850 kgs plus - come on- too heavy, is a hippo-cut some fat, how about smaller brake discs and wheels for starters...thinner springs, and maybe a 2 litre turbo- that would be good for 250kgs...

3. The old plastic cheap interior, I mean get real- for $10,000 more I can get a Mercedes or a BMW sedan with fantastic up to date interior, and that very light turbo 2 litre....with 135 kw odd no less....

4. Fuel consumption- this is disgusting and non negotiable - not green at all with the 5 litre, put in the 2 litre turbo, or at least if using the 5 litre use twin turbos with associated lag and flat spots and non linear power, but get the fuel consumption to bout 9 litres per 1000 at least...

I mean really Ford, come on, get with the times and move on from this prehistoric Metasoarus

Me think you right- Irony.

Just pre empting the usual haters who will talk about weight, fuel consumption, old interior blah blah blah.

No such thing as a free lunch in engineering, if you want linear massive power, like for instance the AMG C63 507, will be heavy and heavy on juice.

But if you want to play you gotta pay....

Really guys, lowering weight by substituting smaller discs/wheels/springs/engine.....

Y'know the way you compare the FGX to Benz and Beemers in your posts one could almost think you are very closely related to Hulk !!

The xr8 on the fanatic day definitely did not have launch control. That doesn't categorically rule it out but it would seem unlikely to me.
