I've never seen a HID globe "blow", when they start getting old they shift up in the rating, so it starts out as 4300K (OEM spec HIDs) up past 5000-6000K getting that real blue light and it loses light output.

Usually its the ballast that carks it if they won't turn on, easy way to check is swap the globe over to the other light, if it works - ballast is screwed. I've seen it on a lot of cars.

I also drive with my lights always on.

With that Black XR8 posted, what a massive shame the GT no longer lives on, the GT would have looked amazing with some striping.

It's pretty amusing though, considering the XR8 next year will be reborn with the same spec engine as the FG GT, could you imagine being a HSV owner forking out all that money on a brand new GTS, then pulling up to the lights next to a FH XR8 and then sitting side by side all the way to 100 and beyond
Even more embarrasing would be the lower spec variants of the VF in HSV's stable getting whopped by a factory XR8.

The black XR8 mock-up looks good. Headlights don't look right.

Shame it will never have that stance (height and wheels) from factory.

Our Territory will be 5 years old by the time the update is released and some of this is making me think I should put a new Terri on the shortlist to replace the current one.

We're very happy with the Terri, fantastic vehicle for families!

I was thinking of a Grand Cherokee but it doesn't seat 7 and we need that flexibility if we take 1 or 2 of our girls friends with us or for my parents.

I'm real interested in the equipment specs; I know the diesel is very popular but I'd most likely go for the 4.0L as seeing this update will be the last of the line!

Black pic needs mesh grille insert, not horizontal slats. Also, same outer headlight edge (indicator) as FG then its gotta be pretty accurate.

If the GT badge is so important, just spend $50 on a couple of GT badges then - Ford Spares.

Yeah - because that's been the difference between GT and XR8 in BA , BF and FG...... just a badge. Dont worry about upgraded engine spec , body kit , interior trim , brakes and suspension and wheels and aftermarket price retention.
What a ridiculous comment to make.

It may astonish you to know that I already know that there are differences between a GT & XR8 (and I have owned a BA XR8 since 2005) - ironically my point is that many ignorant people are obsessed about the badge - a perception which takes precedence over reason - ie the XR8 will be essentially (mechanically) a re-badged GT IN REALITY (vs perception !!!).

Secondly, I thought it VERY obvious that I was being facetious.

How do you know that the new XR8 ( FH ) is a rebadged GT ??
Have they made a FH GT and you know this. By all accounts history has proven you entirely wrong and the GT has always been a leap ahead of the XR8. So essentially an FH GT may well have been something much "more" than this iteration of the FH XR8.

If it makes you happy to whack a $50.00 GT badge on your XR8 and call it a GT - more power to you - but you're only fooling yourself - and no one else.

I see you've backtracked now and added the facetious comment...........

they will use the high torque zf currently in use for the upcoming xr8 and turbo's

but the rest of the range they use the low torque zf 6 speed that is built under license in china.

the only gearbox i can see that be a lower torque version would be the 6HP21

http://www.zf.com/corporate/en/produ...smission.shtml

they've been in so many good cars, great auto transmission (if your into that sort of thing)

Just so I don't take the credit for something I could never create myself, the pic was sent to me via email from a mate who received it from someone else ...... I then sent it to someone who 'knows things' and with a nod was told that it was near spot on and said the XR will be very aggressive
