There's a bit more to it than that.

Its my (limited) understanding that the current Boss requires further work/customisation in OZ and is a fairly expensive motor by the end of it.

Is it possible that the Coyote engine can offer better economies of scale than the Boss and result in an equal or even cheaper price?

There is a point that we're all missing hidden in here, and the original quote from JPD80.

Yep, every time I go to a GT owners meeting I hear someone say "Sure am glad I have a RPO83 or Fairlane instead of a Phase 4 GTHO".........

By all means twist my words, you said "potential Phase 3 owners", not actual Phase 3 buyers.

We can go round and round on this, the point is that those who have Phase 3s are all smiles,
those that held out for a Phase 4 missed out, the people who got RPO83 or Special ZF Fairlanes
got something special but not a GTHO.

According to Wheels Mag, September 2010 issue, it seems like the XR8 will live on......
Do we assume this is a Wheels story, or a controlled leak from Ford ?

Dont think we can rely on Wheels magazine too much, there seems to be better and more accurate information from members here on the forum. I really hope it is right and the XR8 nameplate lives on N/A

Yes I agree, I also have my finger's crossed for the return of the nameplate XR8.
