Need help, going to replace water pump purchased a Max Ellery manual and it is very unclear on how to remove the belt. It states to fit a 3/8 drive socket to the idler pulley. There is no where that i can see to insert a drive socket as it has a nut on it and does not look like it will move to release tension anyway. The ony thing I can come up with is to put a 15 mm socket on my tensioner and turn it clockwise or anti clockwise is this what I do? It is the only thing that looks like it will move. Any help would be appriciated. any pictures would be great. Pity the manual is not much help The tensioner also has a nut on it.

Thanks for the reply, do you know if it is clockwise or anti clockwise that you release the tension on the belt ?

Can't remember, just do it one way or the other. The tensioner will swing straight away. Its not tight.

on the bottom/lower section of the tensioner, is there a 3/8" square hole?
ba one close?, square hole is on the back http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2003-FORD...item3a74d079a5 on the 6cyls you turn the ratchet/bar clockwise to release the tension off the belt

no square hole anywhere, only nuts and bolt heads.
