Absolutely love it. Can't ignore the effort they've put in, the interior is a huge step up. Sleeker exterior too. Not a huge fan of agressive 'grr look at me I'm a big family car' look. The rear end is a mimic of the current 6-series but looking good isn't a bad thing..People saying oh it looks like a jag get real. Has anyone seen the front of a FG mkII G6E? Hardly an original concept..

I think it looks surprisingly good... but something about the tailights, and the low-mounted numberplate at the back, I HATE HATE HATE!
Always had a pet hate of most low mounted nummberplates...

The Interior is fantastic

Wouldn't buy one though.

Agreed. The FG MkII looks ordinary with the oversize "corporate" lower grille and the Fusion in the USA doesn't look much better. Hope Ford styling goes away from these drain grilles.

I don't know too many people who like that design.

On many older cars with a low-mount number plate, fitting a tow bar was either impractical or illegal because the tongue and/or ball would obscure the plate. Looking at that Commodore back end, I don't think that'll be an issue though.

Big fan of the interior, and I also think its a step up for the exterior as well. I am looking forward to seeing the SS as this may be my next car.

Do u know when these cars actually go on sale? Also when the HSV versions will be revealed?

That will give you much better reception then a antenna in the window and since this is designed to be a long distance tourer, in Australia that aerial design makes a lot of sense. Also much better for AM and yes there are places in Australia where AM is still the only radio you can clearly pickup.

And you could drive them a lot cheaper here too, if the Euro manufacturers saw a point in trying to sell them that cheap. The truth is that while there enough gullible Australians willing to pay two or three times the price of these cars true worth, why would you be interested in competing with a Falcon or Commodore? Even with the luxury car tax taken off, we must be one of their most profitable markets in the world for them.

Supply and demand. While people are so desperate to throw their money at them for a supposed "prestige brand" the importers will be happy to keep fleecing them. Nothing against euro cars, but I am always baffled why people would spend the money they do on them. My boss only thinks euro and would happily spend two or three times as much as a Japanese or Australian built car. Then spends lunchtimes complaining about the cost of groceries and petrol. Go figure.

Hopefully someone at Ford is telling the bean counters to take note. The days of decontenting cars are over. They can put back the better quality floor mats in the GT and a whole lot of extra stuff while they are at it.

I'm guessing meetings about the 2014 Falcon are going to be a big headache at Ford on Monday. I very much doubt they planned this much of an upgrade on the interior like the VF has introduced and I also doubt they were planning to be quite as generous with the tech across the model range either.

That is all before you get to the Holden CEO's announcement that they are really going to get behind this car and market it aggressively.

If HSV take the "less is more" approach like the BMW M series then the "GEN F" as they will call it could be pretty nice too.

I like it.. No doubt they will want 65,000 for a Calais V V8 on the road. Bit disappointed they didn't share the rest of the range. I think this is going to hurt Falcon...
