Default Top Gear America- 1st Episode

Ok, Im guessing some of you have seen it. I didnt think it was that bad, I'll watch it again. They arent complete naturals on the camera and the star segment was trimmed badly, but I think it has a lot of potential. 3 Lambo's was probably the best segment. The test rack is a bit strange, but atleast it isnt the narrow, slow joke that the Australian one is.

The guy with the puffy hair; Tanner I think, can certainly drive.

What do we think?

I wouldn't bother, I know it was the first episode and everything but it was seriously boring! I thought the first season of TG Aus was bad till I saw this. There wasn't one slightly funny thing in the whole episode..

its on youtube in 3 parts.
I liked it. The guys need a bit of time to relax and get into it. Te presenter, Tanner, is a professional driver. Drifting, I think.
I reckon give it a few episodes and it'll be great.

I've never really watched the Aus one, but i'm guessing they only really have a small field of cars/stories to work with.. Slightly different in the US

Plus I don't think they'd ever be able to film something like a gunship chasing a muscle car across a town here in Aus, like the yanks did in their 1st episode

I didn't like it. At the start they showed the challenges they did, most of them have been done fairly recently by Top Gear UK.

I think i'll stick to the original.

I also didn't like the chase in the Viper. Switch the location to a military training ground and the Cobra for a Chally 2 and you have an exact repeat of something that happened in Season 6, Episode 1 of top gear UK.

As for Tanner Faust, I belive he won their Formula D drifting championship a few years ago.

If it's Tanner Foust you speak of, he's a top American drifter.

I'm glad they didn't go with those three, i like tim and jerry but you wouldn't be able to see any of the cars due to leno's massive chin.

i didnt like it, it wasnt that great

but......

neither were the BBC top gear early seasons

give them time and it will improve...

im going to say the aussie version is currently better than the US version, but it shouldn't take them long to get comfortable.

It will give us a chance to see more muscle cars. Jeremy and Co. always call the Amercian muscle cars rubbish. I'm sure they'll have to feature some classic American muscle at some stage. It already looks like the US version can afford to throw more money at the production.

On the one hand, any motoring show should be celebrated. Not that long ago we had "The Car Show" starring Glenn Ridge and that dip sheet Steven Jacobs. Remember that tripe?

One the other hand, US Top Gear makes me miss Aussie Top Gear, which made me miss UK Top Gear.

Put it this way -

I can't wait for Uzbekistan Top Gear so I can enjoy US Top Gear.

I think Dominic Monaghan from Lost is on this week (big star, little car or whatever they are calling it), also looking forward to the F150 Raptor being put through its paces. Not sure what episode that will be though.
