Default Times when you've seen a driver who didnt match the car

3 blokes just pulled up outside my work in a new land cruiser with black tinted windows, towing a huuuuge speed boat with an engine that looks like it came off the Queen Mary.
Then they got out of the car
Long dirty hair, flanno's, old torn footy shorts and thongs

Wish i got a picture but they took off pretty quick
Probably 'cause they're on the run in a stolen SUV :|

If you saw him you wouldnt think he owns the things he does oh yeh he also owns 3 houses so where is your logic

I once saw an old duck tootle off to her stock looking white Charger. When she started it up I thought "Wow, that sounds alright" then as she drove off I notcied it had twin pipes and a little oval-ish gold badge on the front guard.

Then it twigged she was driving an E48 VJ Charger - one of the rare one with the triple webers but no stripes or blackouts.

i know what you mean by how i generalised but you really needed to see these blokes, they werent 'rural bogan' just really 'city bogan' like.
And I come from a place rife with rich cars driven by 'bogan' lookin blokes, hell that describes half my mates dads really hah.

None of you blokes (or sheilas!) have ever been to Darwin have ya ?

But seriously, this is common and many dress like this. Though my wife beater's have a bit more colour and I prefer grey. lol.

The really rough looking ones up here are, no matter race or background....really bad.

I did however, see a couple of itinerant 'looking' people some time ago tooling around in a BMW M3. But royalties do that....so you can't really generalize at all here.

Its funny you mention this, along the lines of your generalisation (and i mean general) A majority of well dressed people and people who wear brand names, always keeping up with the joneses, live in Toorak/Kings Cross (i dunno rich sydney equivelent) Drive brand new european cars, have a maid and gardener etc etc are in debt (a lot of it).
They lease, and multi mortgage EVERYTHING.
These blokes in flannys and everyday surburban people are the ones with real investments, own multiple homes, have actuall cash saved up and afford to buy these luxurys with their own money by saving, being disciplined and not worrying about image or social status and actually enjoying good quality things where they count.
And lets not start on "yea but this well dressed man DOES have cash and investments, and these suburban people are struggling with multi mortgages"
well yea thats true.

Im just saying its not surprising to see well off people wearing Kmart specials and driving high end cars.
I just dont think stereotypes or generalisations apply these days.

Just on this generalisation here

Story i heard years ago (apparentally true)
A bikie looking long haired , scruffy looking bloke walked into a posh real estate agent
Nobody bothered to assist him
Except some bloke from the depths of the office
Seems this bloke was looking to spent a few mill on a house
Never ever judge a book by its cover
Most people i know who have lotsa money/assets (not debts ,dont get confused)
Where there shirts till they fall of,replace shoes when their feet poke threw
Funny thing is, they never rub your face in it
They never parade what they have or should have
They just get on with life

Reminds me of my first experience with the agent that manages our investment.
We walked in and enquired about a property we wished to rent. The rep, somewhat abruptly told us to take a seat and he would get back to us. As there were no other clients in the office and after waiting approx 10min & seeing other staff walking around casually, walked up to the receptionist and said that i think the sales rep misunderstood me and explained that I had a property that i wished to let out.
He was back in less than 30 seconds apologising profusely!

I don't wear popular/expensive brand names & refuse to spend more than $50 on a pair of shoes & bum around in old work clothes most of the time. I have'nt had a real holiday in 20 years (although i am told we are going o/s next year).
I'd rather spend my hard earned on my cars, the odd weekend away, cruise & socialise with other like minded enthusiasts. my needs are simple.

Walked into the Guess (the real Guess) Store at Surfers Paradise the other day... No one served me because I was wearing my supermarket work uniform.. I walked about the store for a bit while a well dressed lady walked in and the shop assistant walked up to her straight away and asked what she wanted..

For all she knew I could have been a millionaire working like I didnt need the money ( Gosh I'm far from that! :oP ) Goes to show you should never judge someone by their appearance..

There was a story told about a car dealership on this forum not long ago. The new cadet was wandering around the yard when a bloke walks in wearing paint covered clothes, looking all shabby. The salesmen told the cadet not to bother, he wouldn't buy anything. Cadet goes to speak with him anyway and ends up selling him a brand new car while all the salesmen watch hahah

Yep, happened to a friend of mine. He walked into BMW ready to drop a few hundred grand in his work gear (smelly polo shirt and jeans). They took no notice of him. He walked around the lot for a good 30 mins without even one bit of service.

He then walked into the Mercedes dealership next door and a young bloke sold him an SL63 AMG. Cop that, BMW.

But anyway, back on topic. Me driving my sister's Green fiesta to get serviced. Definitely got some stares!
