Default The Next Ford Falcon

G'day forum,
Just wanted to make an open discussion about what people believe the next ford falcon series will have. I think this will be very interesting and people will want to be updated with what's going on. I know it is very early to even be thinking about this but Holden's VF commodores are going to be showcased and driven at the clipsal 500 in February. Here are a few questions that are open for discussion:
When do you think the next falcon will be released?
What do you think the next falcon will look like?
Is the next falcon going to be released as per usual?(6 cyl, 6cyl turbo, 8cyl,etc)
Will there be major increases with performance?

As I said its open for discussion don't take everything seriously or get butthurt by people's misinterpreted information it's only a discussion and rumored based thread.
Thanks and I hope you find this interesting.

Mechanically little change, but major facelift and tech update seems to be the most common crystal ball results.

A major tech update, to match Ford America, while keeping prices the same. It will be interesting to see what the VF has, might be a clue !!!!! No major tech update, Falcon will struggle..see what's in the 3OOC and whats not in the Falcon.....

I really hope falcon gets some of the kit offered in US fords.
Just got 12 solar panels on the roof so with no more power bills to pay,
It's looking like I should have no problems affording a Turbo six by mid 2014.

The driveline is already very good. It however does need a major improvement in the quality fit and finish of the interior. It would seem this has been a focus of the boys down at Holden with the VF ( I read somewhere), hopefully the emphasis is the same for the next Falcon

I believe that's been quoted as exactly there emphasis.

However they will need to tell people that they've worked very hard on this next Falcon's interior fit/finish.

Seriously?? I own an FG XR6T (granted with luxury pack) & the fitment is 100% perfect. 3 years later & I still can't find a fault. As for finish, every person that gets in my car for the first time says "wow nice car"! Can it be improved? Sure, everything can always be made better, but as for "major" improvements required, I disagree!!

The FG interior fit is first class, it seems you are looking at BA's and earlier Falcons.

IMO the next Falcon will get 2014 Mondeo Styling, SYNC, and lots of the tech features available in the new Fusion / Mondeo.

Im Glad Joe, and to be honest mines not too bad either, but alot of people have complained about squeaks and rattles in the dash, seats, door trims etc. In fact over in the turbo, FPV, xr6t forums bridgette, 01 has compiled a lengthy and detailed post on "My mission to fix squeaks and rattles in my G6ET". Im sure I speak for quite a few of us when I say his hard work has helped a lot of us. By the way I love my FG turbo, wouldnt change it for the world and im glad yours is as tight as a drum. I just think its an area Ford can imrove on.

Every car maker makes the odd car that will squeek and rattle, its inevitable in mass production. 1 car doesn't make a trend. FG TGW ratings have been very good and there has been a further push for quality since the downbalance, due to the line rate being so slow there's more time to concentrate on these things.

The 2nd gen ZF 6 speed will be used, hopefully with throttle blipping on downshifts as used by Jaguar. I'd say there's a good chance the 6R80 ZF copy may be fitted to more vehicles, most likely NA 6's. Low rolling resistance tyres on some models as well.

Big improvement in aero too. Ford have already claimed a 7-8% reduction in fuel use with the newer 6 speed and aero improvements, via a press release earlier in the year when announcing the 2014 upgrade and funding.

And I wish they would offer some of the flash colors on the G series. If the customer wants a bright orange G6E Turbo let him have the damn thing OR let him have the cashmere leather in an XR. I am sick of black leather both to the eye and the bum when that stuff cooks in direct sunlight. Ouchy buttocks!

Would much prefer a 'suede' option. Even the new BMW M5 offers that.

Leather is over-rated and not really a car-friendly material.

From the teaser shown at the Sydney Motor Show, I'm led to believe the next Falcon will look closer to this

Not much else, maybe a few more gadgets to bring it up to date with Fords in the rest of the world. Hopefully a digital radio, blind spot detector, etc.

Haven't met too many people who like that "drain" grille. Looks ridiculous and hopefully the global Ford design team move away from that in the near future.

Looks awesome. Looks super similar to the Aston Martin DB9...which in turns looks similar to the 4th gen Camaro circa 1998-2002.

I don't understand why Ford is late again. The FG update will be released 12 months after the VE update. Why give the opposition a head start?
