With soaring petrol prices now, a big petrol V6 SUV isn't a good thing.

I think it's about 330Kg difference between 5 seater SZ Territory Titanium and Endura AWD Titanium so it is a significant difference...maybe it's just me but when I think premium diesel engined SUV's my mind starts at 180kW

Might want to double check those figures. Bi turbo Edge weighs 1949kg, where the heaviest territory was not much over 2100kg. Not sure where you get the 500kg figure from...

Engine responds very well to mods, but auto gearbox can become unsettled trying to cope with the extra torque. Good fuel economy overall: 9-12L/100km city, 8L/100 country.

Sure the CX-9 is petrol only? A few weeks ago there was a huge billboard on the M80 advertising the new diesel version, maybe not out yet?

Interesting that the bi-turbo version weighs 200kg more. Still only a 350kg difference, not quite 500kg, unless the diesel Terri weighs 2.25tonne...

my point was, it weighs less, and 300kg is still a considerable weight advantage. I find my territory moves along quite adequately for a large car, so the Endura should be an improvement on that given the gearing should also be shorter.

CX-9 is turbo petrol only.

CX-8 is a lengthened CX-5 (B pillar onwards) and is diesel only.

The reason there are 2 cars that do mostly the same thing is that the CX-9 was developed with the US in mind and the CX-8 is for Japan due to taxation on certain size vehicles and engine size.

And Australia gets to have both models.

Hi,

I was searching some details about the EcoBlue engine family, and found this article, which suggest that there is a version of the twin turbo engine with 175 kW,
(that is 25kW more than Raptor, and 35 kW more than the Australian Endura).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EcoBlue

Cheers,

Has anyone see these on the road? I haven’t seen one yet apart from the one I spotted earlier on.

It will be interesting to see when an all-new Edge is developed and if there is no UK market to sell into if Ford Australia can still say "... it has no impact on local models"

The more I look at Ford, the more I see that they are really only interested in
selling +$50K vehicles, the rest are just fill and basically inconsequential as
Ford no longer competes on price, Ford no longer competes full stop.
(obvious to anyone visiting Ford dealerships)

Just don’t see why SUVs have to be so expensive, great if you could pick up a petrol Endura for $35,990. Let it take over the price spot Falcons used to occupy especially as no one wants sedans anymore

aint that their new mantra though? wanted to be more "High End"?

don't know if ford will ever be seen as a high end manufacturer and if that's really the best option long term though

There's a difference between genuine high end products and products that are just over priced.

Ford is switching form bad vehicles that are over priced to better vehicles that are still overpriced.
If sales start to slowly climb we can see that as progress on perception change but if sales are static,
we can take that as the market remaining unconvinced about the value of Ford products Vs the rest.

The Endura diesel priced at $49K was a mistake going somewhere to happen, no one will miss it
when the new Escape finally arrives with much lower price and better value for room offered.

You would need to lower the Endura's spec to that of the $35K Falcon

so..

an LDV D90 seems the only large SUV in that price range.

You get what you pay for.

Probably no more expensive to build than a Mondeo or Camry and probably cheaper than a RWD 6 cylinder Falcon.

But if the customers will pay that much, can’t blame ford

Who is paying what Ford is asking. Ranger is the only vehicle that is moving numbers.

Profit is more important than vfacts data...

I'm not suggesting they are happy with the volumes they are selling, but I've not seen any evidence of drastic price cuts to boost sales.

I saw a metallic red Endura 'ST-line' today in Perth CBD. That's the first one I have noticed on the road. May have missed some previously.

I disagree, there is a lot more kit in the Endura than a Mondeo or Camry and certainly than a RWD 6 cylinder Falcon.

the Endura is not a jacked up Mondeo thier designs are worlds apart

FWIW I really like both, but neither are selling well

I see a lot of mercedes GLC 250s on the road. a smaller car and worth a lot more. Ford are tying to position themselves in between.

Perception is the issue. dealership reputations don't help

CX9 is a 7 seater. Cx5 is the 5 seater
Cx8 is basically a stretched CX5
and like the CX5 its narrow
