i removed my cover today, grabbed the buff and some brasso (i ran out of the "purple stuff" metal polish i would normally use for work)
and i started going to town on it with the wool pad. it came up pretty well, and the vertical lines look like chrome... what are peoples techniques to do it properly?? i was thinking should i rub it all with 1500grit to get the surface baby smooth? there are alot of impurities in it, hence why the polish finish isnt amazing. its looks OK, but put it this way, if you payed me to do it for you, you would probably be dissapointed... thanks in advance guys |

I know a guy that did it in qld. I think he said he sPent about 15 hours on it. I'll see if I can get a holdof him

i dunno if brasso is the best stuff, , look i`m not sure on this but i seem to remember this stuff you put on the buff pad like a grey bar of soap, but it`s not soap it`s some sort of buffing compound.....i think,,,,someone else might have a clue on this.....

Well worth the effort if you can keep it looking like that long term. So what do you have to do to keep the alloy shiney? how long does it last?

I polished an alternator on the Commodore I used to have. MAN it took forever! I hand sanded it and maintained the finish with Autosol metal polish. Good luck with it mate, the finished product will be worth it if you are patient

Sterling. as is looks sic!!! it has that mech warrior/terminator feel to it.
XR6 menace it was a EF. not that but wow that looks like a lot of work |
