can anyone tell me what might cause the brake light fuse to continually blow when i apply the brakes on my 1999 ford falcon forte?

The purpose of the (or any) fuse is to protect your wiring system from high current resulting from damage to a 12v supply wire coming into contact with another wire or any part of the metal body of the car.
If that is detected, the increased current will exceed the rating of your fuse, and it will melt, opening that circuit and protecting it from rapid heat build-up and any damage that results from that! If any particular fuse keeps 'blowing', it means you probably have a short to ground (car body) somewhere between the fuse and the service or light that operates on that circuit. These sorts of problems will usually show themselves at either the brake light pedal switch, or any one of the brake light bulb connectors. Sorry I can't be of any more help than that! Cheers |

What he said. Normally it'll be the bulb sockets in the taillights; the lens can crack and allow water in which then corrodes them. Also pull up the boot carpet and check the wiring loom under that for any damage from heavy objects
