How come Vicroads allowed the plate "WHORE" to be issued? I saw this plate on a motorcycle a few years ago, and wrote to Vicroads to complain. They replied to me and said that they didn't intend to withdraw the plate!! I was shocked, I mean honestly, is there anyone who *wouldn't* be offended by seeing that? I still have the e-mail from them:

"In general, VicRoads refuses to sell display rights where combinations contain inappropriate language..." er, right, so why did you issue the plate in the first place?? Idiots. Anyway, a check on the plate shows it's no longer assigned to any vehicle so maybe it's finally been withdrawn.

Owner got his WEPN plates back, it nearly went to the supreme court.

So VicRoads goes out of their way to bully him, then gives in at the last possible point but makes him sign a non disclosure agreement so he can't talk about it - GAGF VicRoads.

Should have taken it to the supreme court on principle.

The non disclosure statement is stopping you knowing how much $$$ he made in the settlement and what stipulations VicRoads put on those plates.
Sound like he got a satisfactory settlement, In other words mind your own business.

At least he is some sort of legal professional too so I'm interested to see how his court challenge goes.

It's not viable with us average joes to go fighting things in court unless we have heavily discounted legal professionals representing us

I just read the article. I looked at those 6 letters and kept scratching my head as to what the hell it meant....

He would have had to explain what they meant to someone - he could have simply said it is the first letters of his 6 favourite countries:

Lithuania
Germany
Oman
Panama
Norway
Russia...

And no one would have been able to argue with that as being offensive.

After the setback, Mr Lavac, a barrister and former Hong Kong prosecutor, said he already had ideas for his next custom registration.

They include the moniker of UK clothing brand ‘FCUK’, but he said he will more likely settle for ‘XLEGO’ – an abbreviation for “extra-large ego”.

“The main reason I took these people to court was to send a message,” he said outside the court.

“And that was my way of saying, as politely as I know how, ‘Hey guys, this is the 21st century. This is Australia. This is a free country. This is a democracy. This is not the Soviet Union.’

“So get a life. Get a sense of humour and get over it.”

I hate these kind of people, they're the first to say it's a joke, get over it. But always the ones to waste time and fight hard for the principle of being told 'no' on something. IE hypocrites. Get a life, get over it, some one says no, so just move on without being a d1khead.

Where's the fun in that, he wanted people to know what it meant. This is just a boring old guy with too much time on his hands. If he had time to spend in court he could have used that time for something other than his plates, but apparently they're really important, much more important than anything else he could have been doing...

Good on him for trying, he should also appeal the decision to waste more time and resources, the guy obviously has the cash and the time to do this sort of stuff.

At the end of the day it's a number plate, NSW Police and their road nazis surely have something better to do with their time then hassle some dirty old man.

I saw STR8RZR on a big Mazda SUV an hour after reading about this latest plate.

A straight razor is just as much a weapon as a grenade is....... might take a little more to get the bigger jobs done but still this needs to be taken away from teh Mazda owner.

I felt unsafe just watching him leaving the carpark
