Default My Girlfriends driving arghhh

hey all i just got back from a nice weekend away to angelsea with my girlfriend and she drove, because my car had no stereo and she warned me about the speedbumps in the caravan park.

anyway, while driving along the geelong freeway friday nite i noticed that we were in the right hand lane for a rather long time. subsequently she got highbeams from the car behind and eventually moved over. once the car passed she moved back into the right lane when the other lanes were free of cars. she got highbeamed another 2 times for memory on the way to geelong.

then on the way back today it happened again but only once.

i love her to bits but how do i tell her to not drive in the right lane when she is not overtaking anyone without starting WW3 or should i just ignore it and let it slide.

help please guys

cheers
brendan

If you can't even tell her to not drive out of the right lane without getting your head bitten off, time to find a new girlfriend.

Oh mate, i have similar problems with my missus.

Whatever i say to her, no matter how nice i say it, she bites back hard... hope your missus isnt like that.

Maybe use some constructive criticism, but lately i just let it go, only if we are heading for danger i will act upon it. Other than that, highbeams are only lights

If you want to be discreet, leave a copy of the Vic Roads learner driver book with the rules for driving in the right hand lane highlighted. If she don't understand that point, time to get a new girlfriend.

hey by now means is she an angry or mean person in anyway so thats not a problem.
its just something that shits me when im driving and people wont move over. she sees it as " well im doing the speed limit so i can use this lane" she actually said it when it happened.

im not gonna get my head bitten off i just need a way to say it without sounding like a complete dick.

cheers

Damn, atleast on the freeway in SA we have signs on the side of the road KEEP LEFT UNLESS OVERTAKING!...

Its funny, becasue I tell my gf off for doing things whilst she is drivng and she wont listen to a work that I say... i've for 4 years driving experience, she has 6 months, and thinks she knows everything and is a perfect driver... She says I dont know what im talking about because i lost my licence before..

Maybe just make a mention of it next time your driving and somebody does it to you, "God I hate it when people do this, they have no idea what the right hand lane is for" or something like that. It might not work the first few times, but if you do it a few times it might sink in.

Either that or just tell her, but then she'll probably just tell you off for distracting her or something.

i tell my mrs to get bent on a regular basis. She does the same with me. If she isn't willing to listen to your comments then she needs to change her attitude. Relationships where one or both parties are walking around on eggshells are not healthy!

I go to Geelong every weekend and I regularly have to tailgate/flash/go around idiots who drive at 90kmh in the right lane. I like setting my cruise to 103kmh and I stay in the middle lane and go overtake when needed.

Your gf needs to be told that she's breaking a law by staying in the right lane. Is there a reason why she does it?

I genuinely don't understand why peopl drive slowly in the right lane when the left and middle lanes travel at their speed. Send her to any other country and get her to do it there, Australian drivers are the most courteous drivers I've encountered across the globe.

With guy above 100% I had the same thing happen to me with a taxi driver going from Melbourne airport to Gisborne at 5:30am after a long flight from London. This guy was in the right lane on the Calder, 110kmh speed limit doing 75 to 80k with his lights on low. Cars where flashing lights and wiizzing up the inside lane as they avoided rear ending this tool. I told him politely to stay in the left lane and speed up, he looked at me like I was from another planet so I gave him a serve.

Driving in the right hand lane is BAD driving and against the law, end of. It causes other people stress, is rude, selfish and inconsiderate. Also, you force people to overtake on the left, somthing that in my view should be banned at all speeds above 60kmh. Try driving like that in the UK and the police come down on you like a ton of bricks.

This is a rule that I wish was policed more.

I believe people who drive in the right lane should all be rammed off the road. If you can't obey simple traffic laws or at least have the decency to drive in a manner as to not hold up or aggrevate other drivers on the road you need to be slapped up the back of the head........
Just tell her straight out that she is being inconsiderate and to wake the hell up!!!

It is illegal to drive in the right hand lane and it annoys the crap out of other drivers, tell her and tell her fast to get the into the left lane..

Didn't she get the hint being flashed by other cars???

Man up and tell her straight that her driving is rubbish, I say that to my mrs all the time. She argues with you just tell her that because she is female she doesn't understand.

Be the MAN.

Very bloody loudly.

If you don’t think that you’re up to it, PM me her phone number and I’ll tell her. Although, I will not be held responsible for her perforated eardrum.

You can't let that slide.

If she's going to bite your head off because you want to explain to her that you can be fined and lose demerit points for not keeping left (apart from the safety issue) then I think there's something more troubling than her inability to follow simple road rules.

Give her a BS story.... "You would not believe this; my uncle copped a $250 fine for driving on the right lane without overtaking"

If she doesn't get it, then tell her to "GET OUT OF THE RIGHT LANE"
