Default amazing what a difference a set of wheels make

If ford released the au looking like this originally in 98, they would've sold a stack more of them...

just a set of wheels and lowering makes a huge difference... I like it a lot...

:dr_Evil: lol.

It does look pretty good though. The best way to improve the look of the series 1 is to make into a different series!!

Are they SSL's all round?

http://private.carsales.com.au/photos/606323.jpg

Is it me, or is the back slightly lower than the front?

A bit too low at the back - but nothing a set of Superlows wouldn't fix. He just needs to knock around $5k off the price and it will sell.

I think the whale tooth grill on the AU1 fortes was the killer.
Fairmonts were somewhat saved by... surprisingly, a Fairmont grill.

My car is slightly lower at the back & that's fine by me, i dont want the front wheels hitting the guards if i went up or down a drive way with the wheel turned.

Yeah its probably a bit low all round. You would think one would have vacumed the car befor taking photo's of the inside then posting them up in the 4 sale advert.

I recon the au looks better with a rear wing. Ford should have never had the forte option thats what killed the au.
Look at the au sr, basic mags, simple rear wing and side skirts. To me the sr looks great.

Kev, agree with you.
Have said that all along, the forte AU1 pack was all wrong and have said that to so many people since getting my first AU (rip) in sep 98.
ride height, too much wheel arch gap, 15 inch wheels and those awful wheel covers (grose) ruined it.
As you go up from monty - tick xr's the AU1's are excellent
Hope to keep my tick xr6 and get a S3 XR8 to go with it.

I have seen a few pics of AU's on this site without the spoiler and they are excellent looking ,however for best looks it needs a spoiler

My monty, may/99 build, came straight from the factory with the full body kit, tickford suspension, etc. My baby is still going strong with the only addition being a new set of mags recently. She is a classy lookin' girl

I never liked those 'whale teeth' grills on the forte's....ruined them.

I like the fairmont. Its subtle and nice. Sorry dan, Yours is unreal, but you know I'm a fan of subtlety more than In ya face, and thats why i prefer the looks of the fairmont.

Doesn't mean I'd have it over yours though...... :

And fair enough too, I like the Ghia's interior more than mine and a nice subtle car would be nice. I miss the EB.

Thats exactly what the S1 Forte should have looked like. The AU 1 forte` killed the ford badge for a good 5 years!

Yeap, I blame the Series I Forte! What an abomination to a very classy, sharp shape. Geez I love AUs :P

BTW, being a 5.0L and Ghia, I don't think the price is that bad. Could certainly be lower, but still...

Yes and that is why I choose a Ghia over the XR. Ithink Ford should have put the T series dashes in the XR's to make it nicer inside. The Futura looking dash kept me from buying the XR's.

Thats one of the neatest AU's ive seen...... still would never buy one thou! Thank god for the BA...

I think wings on anything look crap, only subtle lip spoilers, mate took the wing off his new VY SS looks tough. An example is the DJR 320 BA's vs the xr8's way more classy lookin.

The price may be a few G's overpriced but not much, it is a V8 with low Km's....
