Default Number Plates

I was out cruising friday night it was about 5:30 and i noticed that there was a heap of cars here with Personalised Numberplates Not just on the lappers cars but on family cars . Now there is only about 25,000 - 30,000 ppl in this town and it looks like the ratio from personal plates to standard plates it high.
. . . Whats It Like Where Your From . . .

Warrnambool is such a beautiful place. I’m usually down there about once a week, as for the number plate thing, it’s probably the demographic of people there. A lot of people who want something different.
Do you know of Davway, I think he’s from down that way?

Cheers, Danny

What are some of the costs involved in getting personalised plates? I'm thinking I may get some, but I don't want to burn too much money on something that is purely asthetic.

I live in the Hornsby area, and there are a few personalised plates getting around but not many. As Full Noise said, it could be dependant on the demographic of the area which determines the ratio of personalised plates to standard issue plates. Hornsby is just plain old middle-class suburbia, and most of the people are fairly conservative, which might explain it.

Well in my driveway every car has personalised plates (thats 5 cars)

I'd see them maybe 1 in 30 cars.

In NSW you can go to MY RTA and check if the combination you want is avaliable.
You can also order them online.
I have custom plates. They call them "Personalised Plus" now, Slimline black on white, and they cost me $400 a year PLUS rego.

I have custom plates. They're the coloured letter letter number number letter letter combo. Cost $110 or so + rego each year.

There's several my way but its usually the Fast and The Furious crowd that have them.

Not exactly personalized plates, but on the jag I have PUR-009. Mates want me to get SHAGUR hehe.

"TURBRO" is probably the one I've laughed the most at. But obviously huge ammounts of (mostly crap) personalized plates around sydney.

Yeah, especially considering you only own the "right to display", rather than the actual plate, AND they can be taken off you at any time if they are later deemed offensive.

A guy I know from work has "DESCENT" (NT plate) and just got his GF "XESLARO" (read it backwards)
She doesn't understand it, which is probably a good thing.

There are a couple of standouts around here...

"ROCCO" on a black badarse WH Statey :P So Mafia!

"OMGWTF" (BBQ? lol) on a red VX SS

"WHYASK" on a stock 80s/90s Honda Accord...

There aren't heaps of personalised plates around here though. I'm gonna laugh my **** off when/if I ever see a car with "HIASL" plates! :nutsycuck

I have a set of plates stashed away, they look standard issue. The plates going on the XD will be future issue as well. It's way cheaper that way.

We have 5 cars all with personalised plates. There is alot of these plates in our area, on all makes of cars.
I would have to say that the ratio of newer fords is higher than Holdens

IIRC mine cost me $320 for a standard and a slimline. I had heard that having 1 slimline was meant to cost a little more but I wasn't charged any extra for it.

Mine say FRDGAL and I tell ya, there aren't enough digits in the numerical system for me to give you an idea on how many people have said that my plates mean FRAGILE
