Default Ford hammering the GT advertising...it's a start.

Been seeing an awful lot of the TV adverts for the GT Falcon...they'vereally been hammering them the last week or two. Good to see! It's a great advert (even if they do, for some reason, include the XC Cobra in the "GT" lineup... ), and we can only hope they finally get off their bum and do some similar emotive and catchy adverts for the rest of the Falcon range.

You can't go wrong playing on a long history...remember the excellent ad for the Holden ute with the "morphing" series of utes which went right from the FX up to the latest Commodore SS? That was a memorable advert. Ford should do the same with the Falcon.

Or is it too little, too late? It's at least a start...

I reckon a couple of different GT ads wouldnt go astray.
Show what the 335 can really do or what it can sound like etc.

Is that the one with Moffatt saying at the end "that time is now"? Yeah good ad that one. Ford should do one with a similar theme (without the heavy emphasis on performance aspects) for the Falcon.

Good ad, only complaint is the colour they choose for the FG at the end.

They show all these great GTs and Cobras, so the dark blue FG at the end kind of blends into the background. A bright red FG GT would have really 'popped' on screen and would have been a good way to finish the ad.

Great to see them advertising it, sounds fantastic too.

Maybe because Ford = Blue and Holden = Red.

Funny you say that but moffats winning GT's and mustangs back in the late 60's early 70's were Red

These cars are meant to be revving out.! Why are they idling along on a racetrack?! Boring ad if you asked me... Surely it only appeals to oldies? My Dad is 65 (fg turbo driver) and I dont even think it would appeal to him, apart from having moffat in there.

to see a car driven in a irresponsible manner is frowned upon.

Remember the old hsv ads with V8 synphony. The V8 being crossed up at the end. i think it was pulled for promoting such driving.

thats why we see them bubbling along on the race track..

Was thinking the same, but what if they did Something similar to the FT86 seen as that is shown here.
But it's good to see some adverts on tv that's for sure.

Advertising regulations prevent any vehicles being shown engaged in competitive or aggressive driving.

Yeah, but the Toyota 86 advert has Mr Okimura from downtown Negasaki, ripping around a racetrack he just made by drifting it through the desert. They do have a little disclaimer at the bottom saying something like, "This was filmed under controlled conditions by professional drivers......" How can they get away with it? The FPV ad has the cars just idling along like they're in a shopping centre carpark? Maybe they should have done an advert as a complete copy of the Toyota advert with Alan Moffatt cutting sick in a paddock and then have a disclaimer at the bottom like the Toyota ad.

Doesn't matter.
One complaint from Harold Scuby and his mates and that ad will be pulled if found to breach guidelines...

On topic,
Just hearing the start...burble of the V8 and drive off roar would give a nice sense of connection.
Much of what a V8 experience is can be presented in sound, something that cannot be gagged..

Seriously I don’t see how any performance car manufacturer can advertise anything on Nany State TV anymore …

What’s the point spending lots of money on a pensioner doing 30km per hour on a race track when it shows absolutely nothing about the car!

Instead FPV should make YouTube commercials where there are NO nannies telling you what you can advertise or what you cannot … here is an example, now tell you don’t want to own this car after watching this advertisement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnVcHT5rH-k

The driver in the Toyota 86 ad is Japanese drift king Keiichi Tsuchiya.

Yes they are only allowed to portray such things thanks to the nanny state country we live in.

How come Toyota can show their new coupe drifting? Because of the location?

Maybe Ford could inject more images or video of the race cars from the era of the GT's and Cobras in between the 335 trundling along.

I've only seen this ad on Go or some other secondary channel at well past midnight. Ford marketing: You're doing it wrong.

The charisma of syphillis.

I absolutely love the new 86 commercial...however I can't see it lasting long...enjoy it while it lasts...

The reason they show the cars just giving it a little in the mid range is because that's where the sound is best...not to mention the fact that I'd actually like to see figures on the average age of the buyer of a GT Falcon nowadays...I'd lay money on it being well north of fifty. They're now seen as a "prestige performance car", not a balls-out racer, after all.
And to be blunt, they're a little heavy in street trim to be chucked around a racecourse violently at full noise...it could become embarrassing...

embarrassing ? it worked well for the old GT's right ? thats what we all loved about them, being man handled around Aussie racetracks...thats how and why they became so desirable in the first place!
In regards to age, thats a good idea for a poll and Id bet the average would be quite a bit younger than that.
As for the Toyota , who gives a damn about that. Seems to be everyones wet dream atm for reasons I will never understand.

He's just comes across too bland, not engaging of a wide audience IMO. Someone like jb, he has the ability to capture the attention of more people in the way he comes across, he has cred, not just racing but also product developement over many years, AND he can work a crowd.

Harry's mother in law is gravely ill in the UK, looks like he will cut short his soccer contract
to transfer back to the UK so his wife can be closer to her mother.

I am over 40 and whilst I respect the guys achievements. I also find him the least bit inspiring. I also think at his best he wouldnt cut it today. If asked I think he would probablty agree. Does that mean I am an over 40 year old heathen yuppie with zero brains.
