Default XR8UTE: Cammed and Blown [Feedback]

I am dying to know what you guys think of the plans for my ute. See the project thread linked in my sig if you haven't already.

Do you think I will make 12 seconds with that combo?

Will my auto and diff (and engine) last more than a week once the blower is on?

Will my license last more than a week once the blower is on? LOL, touch wood...

Grunter was pulling 12.6 with 290rwkw on 10psi in a manual au2 xr8 with 3.7's

His T3 should have quite a bit more than that so look out for his WHOOPS the auto broke thread in the next week. If you dont see one I reckon your pretty safe lol

Thanks guys, I'd be happy with a 12.9. Hopefully I can get there without breaking too much stuff.

I'd be happy just to get me cam in and run a 14 at the moment...but I keep breaking my shitty valve spring compressor. I wish I knew how to weld :(

Grunters beast was half my inspiration. The other half was a spirited drive in my neighbours STi....the ute felt a bit slower after that, LOL.

I want to be mid-low 13's once the blower is on (3-4 months)

In the 12's once my wallet has recovered and I can get it to launch better i.e. rear suspension, drag radials, tricky auto (6-9 months)

Taking your time and collecting the bits and working a plan around the install will make this a succesful project.

Mid 13's are a given no problem. Going into 12's will mean strip wheels and tyres and a set up that might become somewhat compromised for street use.

Power is everything down to around 14 seconds then traction and launch become the big factors then power to weight and areodynamics start to become th critical factors as you go even lower.

personally I reckon with that combo and running 10psi he'll dip into the mid 12's with street tyres, Provided you can drive ing_sm

I am not sure just how well I can drive yet. I imagine running 12's on street tyres in a car weighing ~1800kg might be a bit tricky

Should be good fun trying to make it work though

I am thinking 12's would be hard with a ute live rear axle and street tyres.

Much easier with an IRS in a sedan with more weight on the wheels and less torque reaction problems.

Camshaft is in and the car is running again. Did a couple of G-Tech 0-60mph runs at my usual spot and it looks to be at least 0.5 seconds quicker.

Smooth all the way to redline now, whereas it used to start getting rough over 4500rpm before

I'll post more details in the project thread shortly (see my sig)

Thanks Stav

I'll put the wideband and Jaycar DFA in over the next couple of weeks, and see if I can get it running better.

Looking at opening the air filter box as well. I can't see the point of plumbing anything, I am just going to cut a big bloody hole in it and see what happens :

Can't wait to see what it does at the track.
