Default AU2 XR6 HP ticking at idle

Hey boys and girls,

As much as i'm reluctant at the moment to spend any money on it (at least until the Fairlane is sorted), the XR6 (HP engine) is ticking no matter what the RPM's - I'd say to do with the lack of servicing from the previous owner...

I'd dare say it's the lifters, but what i'm more curious on is how hard would it be to replace them all?

FYI, I haven't really had a chance to play around with the lifters and stuff yet in it, but I'd prefer to just buy new ones and throw them in and hopefully solve the issue. Any hints to replacing them would be great.

Cheers.

mine was exactly the same till I discovered that Ford actually recommend 5W40 . since I have been using 5W40 semi synthetic the lifters have been quiet as a mouse. I do use a little bit of oil but it is negligible and worth it for the quiet lifters ( 1/2L in 5000Ks )
