They are now targeting the Russian central bank, with the use of Swift,& ‘selected’ banks, this does not go far enough. At least Italy & Hungary are on board now(they weren’t a few days ago.) They have to break the back of the Russian economy.Germany is now @ last sending arms & munitions to Ukraine, they have been reluctant to do this because of WW11.Source:BBC world news.

Since you quoted me I will happily reply.

Maybe it's a little confusing for you, this modern warfare. thingey.

We don't need missile silos anymore, we use mobile launchers and nuclear bombs delivered by drones from air bases...or aircraft carriers.

The closer the air base to the targets the better.

Who has the most air bases in the world mostly in foreign countries?
(It ain't Russia)

I can't see mention of Latvia or Estonia as having nuclear missile bases by anyone in the thread, but thanks for overstaing the obvious.

I have read that it is only the Swift payment system...(that many have abandoned use of anyway.)

Germany sees an opportuinity to sell some stuff...that's it...they have to consider that the gas supply might be turned off if they are naughty.

Of course Italy and Hungary are on board, they are a part of NATO.

Is China onboard yet? Nope.

That border with China will insulate the Rusian economy from sanctions.

I imagine things too, I imagine that he will make his point and not occupy indefinitely....unless someone wants to escalate it further.

I have never met him, but his youtube videos indicate that he acts in both the national interest and his own.

That is consistent behaviour of most world leaders.

yes It does seems he wants an old style Soviet Union back.
as to why you could only imagine whether its his beliefs of something else at play
it may even be so he can plant his mobile missiles further abroad so he can strike fear further in to nato

That is what is being said, his beliefs are very strong on that, especially on the old style Soviet Union, very concerning. The ordinary Russian on the street are bot happy with what is happening. It is widely known he is not in ‘favour’ of NATO.

The brilliant part of the Russian strategy is that through fake news etc. they have convinced the gullible parts of the West that they/Russia are morally correct. Then they have sown the seeds of division, and in the digital age the west is engaged in endless pointless debate/argument with itself left vs right, woke vs patriot etc.
I mean just look at what people post here.
Meanwhile Putin goes about as he likes and we call each other names and bemoan our own demise lol

If, and it was still an if, Ukraine joined Nato it would not present any bigger threat than estonia or latvia.
Nato has never had intentions to place offensive missile platforms directly on a border with Russia.

If you believe Putin was right to invade Ukraine then I will agree to disagree.

I dunno where you got all that from?

Did it just show up on your smart phone this morning?

From what i can see it is the media that is pushing an anti Russian addenda, far from what you are asserting.

Show me a news source that says he is a good guy?

Well..that's your opinion, albeit an uninformed one.

The Russians indicated that they would negotiate on the basis that Ukraine would never join NATO. Ukraine refused to have any discussions that precluded them from doing that.

That is a contradiction and is the basis for the Russian invasion.

US/NATO air force bases that have runways that a nuclear armed drone can take off from are all over NATO countries.
As I said missile silos are 1950's tech which alert targets in plenty of time for a response....a cruise missile launched from a border is much better.

NATO exists to challenge Russia funded by the Americans.

Funny how people are so quick to dismiss other opinions, even though there is insufficient evidence to prove otherwise.

Here is an interesting interview with an ex UN weapons inspector, an American but has family ties in Georgia, so you could say he has connections to the region. Georgia was at war with Russia not that long ago, and supposedly over a similar issue.

His summation is very similar to that in the video that George V posted earlier (how many actually watched it?). When different sources start to collaborate, its time to take notice. IMHO.

Thank you.

A United Nations weapons inspector, must be fake news

I just watched the first 25 mts of Ritter; will watch the rest later.

Vladimir doesn't understand that only the West is allowed to invade other countries. I've heard our foreign minister mention that wonderful thing, the 'international rules-based order'.

Yeah, but we, the West, make up those rules. Like when we invaded Iraq almost 19 years ago now, 'justified' by a pack of lies and so-called 'intelligence' about non-existent WMD. (I think Ritter was calling out those lies way back then.)

We need to be careful (I include myself in that), like Ritter says, about propaganda being used to sway our opinions in this war, such as the 13 who died (allegedly) defending that small island.

From what I understood it’s not necessarily nukes that worried Moscow, it’s the nato version of iron dome, the article I was reading said that Russians were opposed to extension of the missile defence system because they could easily be reloaded with offensive missiles instead of purely defensive.
Flight time from the Ukraine would be 5-7 minutes or some thing.

I find it hard to pick a side, there’s so much disinformation out there from both sides, and really it’s the incompetence of the west in the last 30 odd years that has let it get to this state.

As an Australian of Ukrainian heritage, I can’t believe this is happening again. My mum was born in an Australian army camp while they waited to be settled here.My now long departed nanna escaped Ukraine in the 40’s, and even until her death couldn’t share about what she had seen at the hands of the German troops. She told us only 2 things about her life, her brother died of starvation at age 14, but there was no funeral. Her brothers and sisters wheeled his body into the forest in a wheelbarrow and buried him themselves. And she recalls that when the German troops were approaching, parents with teenage daughters would smear them in dung so the troops would not take them away. That is all she could tell us.
And over 70 years later it’s all about to happen again, what a bunch of disgusting savages the human race is.
