They don't seem too confident in their new fancy camera system if it's coming down to this.
I have to wonder, whether they were holding “something else”? Quite frankly I am behind the Gov’t 100%.Do not like it ? Do not pick anything up! How simple is that?,why would you have anything else in your hands while driving anyway?(again that is dangerous as well) do you have an issue with that@? It seems you do?I cannot stress enough, keep “BOTH” hands on the steering wheel.Simple isn’t it?

I don't have an issue with the fine for using your phone while driving.

My issue is around watering down the court system to reverse proof to be on the accused, reeks of revenue raising operations.

Maybe if you love draconian governments then go move to China and you can live in your Communist utopia - just don't mention Taiwan... I mean Chinese Taipei.

Again, easy way around that.Do NOT pick anything up whilst driving(you shouldn’t anyway)then, you have nothing to fear. Both hands on the wheel.A lot of drivers obviously cannot comprehend that.

Don't talk about Taiwan being an independent nation or Hong Kong's one nation two systems model either.

What an earth are you going on about? Stay on subject. Not interested in “Taiwan OR HongKong”(or the politics involved) or trying to make parallels.

That Beyoncé CD looked like a phone device. Off to jail.

What would happen if your windscreen mounted phone fell off, and you picked it up, (without digitally exciting any device it holds), and safely replaced it?

I don’t think anyone on here is arguing that you should be able to pick something up.The debate is over the reversal of proof that is being suggested. If you are guilty, cop it,but it is not the drivers responsibility to prove innocence,it is the Govt,s duty to prove guilt

Just imagine how far the government would push the boundaries of civil liberties if everyone was a spineless sheep. What do you think they would stop at if everyone just accepted what they were given?

There is no rule that says you can't pick anything up in your car while driving. Sunglasses case, cassette, pack of ciggies etc. All perfectly legal to hold.

I am sure that your phone would be quite OK on the floor/seat/ whatever until such time as you could safely pull over and stop to retrieve it.
Same goes for anything else that you may drop.

This could be an exception ......... https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-07-...00kph/12430514

I'm scared to scratch my face when the revenue patrol is nearby.
I had to break the habit of touching the side of my face when stopped at red lights.

Pretty funny the terrified people with their "what if" scenarios.

Frankly I'm surprised they have the courage to drive at all.

You will have to “retrofit” an auto box into the thing!

A lot of companies are getting Prime Movers with Autos.

Probably because Driving School graduates don't know how to use a Roadranger.

Driving is easy.

Paying $400 and getting 5 points for no reason at all is the hard part.

Anyone seen what appear's to be a portable mobile phone detection unit ?

Looks like a roadside works yellow lighting tower trailer, retrofitted with two large black boxes/camera's (one very high hanging over the road, and a second mid way up)

Definantly wasn't there for any roadworks (between Heathcote rd and Lucus heights tip about 6 weeks ago)

I think they stand out, but if you're distracted by a phone I can see how you will miss them pretty easy. Also some people are not very observant and probably have no idea what they are
