Default Brake upgrades for E series?

what is available as an upgrade to suit an E-series that has a set of 17" BBS wheels? room on the hub side of the wheel is generous (360mm rotor and 4 piston AP racing caliper fits with room to spare)

I can't see a 360mm 4 piston set up under a 17" wheel.We do a twin piston caliper and 330mm disc for $2200 or a 343mm with a 4 pot for $4200 but i don't think the 4 pot kit fits the 17" wheel.

inside diameter at the hub face in the wheel is ~410mm, dummied the wheel on a mates '69 mustang with those brakes, and plenty of room

Sorry mate i can only tell you what i know and i am not always right.
The AP Racing 4 pot calipers (CP6600 or CP5200) are designed to suit 300mm up to 330mm rotors and trying to fit them over a 360mm rotor would cause radius issues and the caliper would have to have spacers fitted to fit over the thicker disc as they are designed for 28mm and 30mm thicknesses.

how do i go about identifying the calipers on my mates mustang?

I wasn't either.This is the only problem i find on forums though because sometimes people interpret a reply the wrong way which is what i was trying not to do.
The caliper itself will have a number stamped on the underside.CP5200-808s4 for example.

lol i knew where you were coming from, we've tried 4 different sets of 17"s on the mustang and only 2 of them fit over the brakes

i'll get a definite measurement on the discs and a part number/photos of the calipers later this afternoon

That answers the caliper to rotor question but it still must be one hell of a 17" wheel for it to clear this set up.We could do this for you to suit the E series but it would be an expensive kit to do.The best thing would be for you to supply me the wheel and we make a kit to suit.

and they're BBS RS 3-pieces..... quite a history to that design of wheel!

The wheels would be the biggest problem as they are 3 piece and my guess with the 6 p x 360mm 2 piece disc kit it would be between $5000 to $6000 because the calipers and much are much dearer.

The bolts that attach the wheels together which are the ones you see from the outside generally foul on the caliper itself (depending on what size brakes you run) and for years we also couldn't fit big brake kits to particular wheels because the centers they used in the rims were smaller as well.
