Default Dash Trouble. HELP

Hi all
I was driving along today when all of the gauges and warning lights turned themselves off.
I didn't notice any warning lights before hand.
Then they intermittently came back on but turned back off straight away.
Any ideas?

Hi mate welcome to the forums. Sounds to me like you may have a bad earth or loose connection i'd check the back of the cluster and see if any of the plugs are loose.

Thanks for that.
I don't think that that will be the problem as I had the dash out a few months ago.
I'll have a look at it if it stops raining in Melbourne.
My father thought it may been a problem with the cars CPU.
The only other thing I can think of is that the battery may be dying or, I had the battery disconnected last weekend to have a new exhaust tip welded on. Maybe I knocked something or haven't reconnected tight enough.
I only disconnected the positive site of the battery when welding.
Could this have caused a problem?

Sounds like a bad earth. Worth checking the alternator and re-checking the battery terminals, though; very low voltage will do that too. Welding won't have done any damage, so you can breathe easy there

Hi guy's.
I went out to have a look at the car yesterday and the battery was dead flat.
So I put it on charge last night, got up this morning, and it's still dead.
Looks like the battery has died and gone to battery heaven. Time to get a new one.
I must have been lucky to get it started Friday to get home!

Hi all
Just an update.
Went an got a new battery, put it in, started the car, battery light still on and gauges still doing funny things.
So I go and have a look under the bonnet. Something doesn't smell right.
So I start checking things. Get the multimeter out and hook it up to the battery and start the car again. The reading goes straight up to 17+ volts!
Quickly shut the engine off.
The regulator in the alternator must have died, and it's pumped out too much power and fried the old battery.
Hopefully I found the problem before it's done any major damage.
New alternator in and running fine.
A bit of an expensive day!!
