Default Help: Alternator bolt head stripped ---

Hi All

Replacing a fautly alternator on my series 1 Au S/wagon. All going well till that last 10mm bolt that goes from the power steer pump bracket. Different people tried different socket sets etc till the head rounded We also tried the top 13mm bolt head with no luck also.

Anyway any ideas on how to remove? Was thinking of just cutting the head off but not sure if the bolt will just pull out? Banging on a smaller socket but no reall space to swing a hammer? Cut the bracket?

Cheers Mick

A more available method may be vice-grips. I used a set to remove an air-ratcheted sump bung...

if it`s rounded sometimes you can hammer on the next size down socket.

Just a little trick try tightening it a little first to break the bond

Hi All

Got the bugger off

Used an Irwin bolt remover socket. Came off really easy.
This was after a 'professional' auto electrician tried and said it's stuck and to call in the bolt remover specialist!

Cheers Mick
