Default HSV's are getting a weight loss.

Was? nup, nothing new in the aero there, 200kg weight loss?? You're cracking me up! seriously.. If they can shed 10kg's that's a great achievement..

200 is a typo....100kg is the word....apologies its late.

So far its looking like the GS in a straight line will trounce HSV, but HSV shouldn't be the bench mark....or should it? What about the rest of the package? There was no mention of the improved steering from the weight loss.

Did anybody read the Herald today, they had a special on it and they seemed to indicate that there was not improvement in the steering??

100kg sounds like a huge typo too, maybe over 5-10 years, but 1-3? try single digits....

You'd cry if i told you what it costs to shed 1kg form a vehicle....

Hahahaha, that bboy fellow is a crack up, he's full of accurate Holden stats that's for sure.

I have never actually read a review on the FG that actually said the steering was crap, I'll have to expand my search.

Aero improvements? Yeh, that's what's needed to improve the handling at 100kmph. They should have spent 10 mill on that, and only fitted half a pump.

Holden and HSV are looking for 100, apparently bringing in engineers from a leading euro car maker. I cant imagine that they will get there but the next platform will be a smaller affair. The future for the falcon/torus a smaller affair as well?

Compare the falcon and como to euro equivelant and there is no doubting the fact that they are both fatties!!! Even a 5 Series is sub 1700kg and look at what they cram into that package.....

no not at all, trying to remain objective and not fall in love with a car I have not even driven yet.....but if fpv have spent $40M on this new engine and are still getting mixed reviews....

I have no love for either Ford or Holden, I love aussie muscle and that is where it ends.

I wand this SC falcon to be a HSV killer, HSV have had it too good for too long, no competition.....just look at the face of the E2.....clearly they were not worried about putting what is essentially a pretty ugly nose on the market. They need to have sales competition because in the end you and i as consumers will benifit with better quality for less.....$85k+ for a GTS???

Are you suggesting Ford aren't on a similar quest to reduce weight, or any car manufacturer for that matter? Maybe they'll be able to match Holden Kg for Kg in the weightloss game?
What's a C63 weigh?

Seems unusual that you think only Holden have this as a focus..

Its easy to pull numbers out of the sky and say "that's our aim", maybe its best to focus on what we know and how they sit today?

no doubt every car manufacture would like to cut kilos but its not fords focus ATM, for Holden Areo and now weight loss is their prime focus....no more power hikes.

what bad reviews?? I have onle seen this one here and the one yesterday in the Herald which was a resounding thumbs up however mentioned that the vauge steering and in ability to match HSV or the F6 for turn in capabilities had not been fixed. Which I was hoping would be with the reduction of weight over the front wheels.

How do you know Ford arent focusing on reducing the weight of the Falcon??

Just because Holden "claim" it doesnt mean Ford are any less focused and commited to it too...

1 brief review means little at such an early stage regarding handling of the GS...
Lets wait for some comprehensive back to back tests and also what the GT brings with its different settings..

have ford formally announced like holden that they are? No. So with that I would assume that they are not as focused on it as holden ATM.

Agree....looking forward to a full 'blown' review of the GT, rubbing my hands with excitment. Hopefully by XMAS one of the mags will pitch the GTS v GT and have some track comparisons.

When is the new falc' due in showrooms/test drives to then public?

FFS just because Ford dont publicise what their R+D focuses are doesnt mean they're not doing it..

Mate you need to look at all aspect's and not focus to much on what you may or may not have read in a Sun Paper, I've read lot's of thing's in the paper, like Elvis is still alive,
