Default Canberra BBQ Cruise - Sunday September 21

Hi everyone,

We're planning a short cruise and BBQ on Sunday September 21.

Meeting point will be the Lanyon McDonalds carpark at 11:45am for a 12 noon departure. People travelling from Belconnen/North Canberra may want to nominate a meeting point over there and travel over to the Southside together.

From Lanyon we'll travel out through Tharwa (now that the bridge is finally open again!) then there's some fun winding roads as we head out to Honeysuckle Picnic Area. This is the site of the old Honeysuckle Space Tracking Station and although the buildings are all gone there are lots of interesting signs, maps etc that tell the interesting history of the area.

There's an undercover BBQ area, public toilets and heaps of room for kids to play. If you're feeling energetic there even a few scenic walks you can take!

Although the BBQ area has seating, it may pay to bring camp chairs in case the seating is taken (I'll head out early to try to snap up the best places!).

Hope to see as many people there as possible.

Looks as if it will be a nice day 18 deg. sunny, BBQ lunch, nice windy road, good company and under 30km from Lanyon, what else do you need.

Just a reminder that the meeting point tomorrow morning is the Lanyon McDonalds carpark at 11:45am for a 12 noon departure.

Nicole and I will be heading out a little earlier just to make sure we have the BBQ and seats reserved but it may pay to throw your camp chairs in the boot just to be safe!

Looking forward to the run anyway.

Good thing us XR5 guys went earlier - there wasn't enough room for us, let alone with you guys too. Hope you guys had as much fun as we did, with less incidents than we had.

Was certainly busy out there. Apparently the old school GT club was out and about that way too.

We had no incidents as far as I know.

Was a good day, snags were plentiful, drinks cold, weather nice (not too much sun, although the wind started to get cool), roads good.

Man, I wish I had been able to make it. Last two runs have been bad for me timing wise.

Didn't see any cameras out. I took mine, but there was no good locales, we were parked all over the place, and didn't stop anywhere else.
