It won’t be for everyone that’s for sure and I’m sure the stinger is a much more comfortable cruiser with a better long term warranty.

Think Jack Russel v Labrador....
Reviews of RS are similar. I live in a small coastal town, and being in her 60's (although itd be awesome if she was) I don't think she's redlining it much on the way to a friends farm. I love the sounds of your A45. Ive heard and read 'cruiser' associated with the stinger a bit. Wonder if there will be a more performance model down the track with adj suspension and drive modes?

TBH, I’m not sure Stinger will progress as a future model. Slow uptake despite being a good bit of kit.

KIA and HYUNDAI more likely to focus on their N division performance small cars and Hybrid tech Sharing. Hell...even Merc/ AMG announced no more future research funds for filthy brilliant sounding internal combustion stuff.

Signing the paperwork on a Cerato GT hatch today. $33,300 drive away in white. It should land in Sydney on July the 20th. Looked at a Honda Civic VTIL but it had less kw's & nm's.

So, about the same as a base model Focus.

Nah, you'll get into STLines for that kind of $$$$'s.....
Hatch or wagon having got priced up for both the other week.
RS is just under $50k.
Forgot Festiva ST price but around Focus bucks, test drove it, nice job done by them BUT too small for my liking.

Think you meant Focus ST under 50K and Fiesta ST

I sat in my first Stinger the other day....my brothers new one replacing his 08 FG G6ET. Didn't need the comparison to the FG to make the Stingers cabin floor me, what a awesome place to be. And with the optional exhaust? Sounds great even at idle and legal to boot. And boot? <100km and a throttle prod and SHOVE. Awesome car, amazing for the $.

(actually not replacing the FG sorry, but FG moves to backup duties, <100000km and still a great drive)

It won't. Has been a sales bomb, especially in the US. It will get a small facelift soon and that will be it.

It won't get the bigger engine like some journos were saying it would either.

With the rise of the machines and Skynets impending rein; and when combustion engines are no more... it will be interesting to see what becomes of the Stinger. Will it stand as a good purchase/investment; a dark horse. Not just in terms of depreciation but as a driver. I tend to think they will become desirable significantly and they'll be quite cheap to pick up in 5yrs when that 7yr warranty is running thin. I realise I've just described many cars but there is a lot to like abut them.

Didn't get a chance to test drive the Stinger but did have a chance to sit in one - wow, much nicer than I expected.

Honestly thought a level better than a Mustang. (Not saying better car as I'd love a Mustang on looks alone)

You got to drive it to get the full experience man. Sitting in it is only part of it.

Yeah I'm looking forward to it.

The Mustang felt a bit slow, but then after a T Barra and VR6 it's probably my fault as too high expectations.

Stinger I reckon could be quicker, especially torque that 6Ts nail any NA V8.

Hard to see a car that no one really wanted when it was new, suddenly becoming desirable down the track. It is a Kia after all, not a prestige brand, or one with pedigree or history.

Ford is hardly a brand that people dream of either.

Doubt has any bearing on Stinger sales.

It's a limited market at that price now everyone is buying SUVs and Dual Cabs.

Shock results as Tesla finishes last in car quality survey
Leading luxury brands will be feeling a little sheepish after a respected vehicle quality survey produced some revealing statistics. But none fared worse than EV maker Tesla.

David McCowen news.com.auJUNE 25, 202012:46PM

Tesla has finished at the tail-end of an influential survey for new car quality.

The JD Power Initial Quality Survey asks owners of new cars about problems they’ve had within the first 90 days of ownership. Customers answer more than 200 questions about various issues ranging from minor glitches to major failure.

Dodge, which sits alongside the likes of Jeep in the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles group, tied for first place with Kia as customers reported 136 problems per 100 vehicles sold.

Strong performances from Hyundai, Kia’s South Korean sister brand, and FCA stablemates Jeep and RAM suggest the top results were not fluked.

Hyundai’s Genesis luxury arm finished on top of prestige rivals in the US, joining Lexus and Cadillac as the only premium brands to score better than the car industry’s average of 166 problems per 100 cars sold.

Genesis also finished on top of the more comprehensive JD Power vehicle dependability study which surveys American owners after three years of ownership, not three months.

Nice! Was interested to know the population sample per vehicle brand but I couldn't find it.

https://www.jdpower.com/business/pre...lity-study-iqs

The 2020 U.S. Initial Quality Study is based on responses from 87,282 purchasers and lessees of new 2020 model-year vehicles who were surveyed after 90 days of ownership. The study, which provides manufacturers with information to facilitate the identification of problems and drive product improvement, was fielded from February through May 2020.

Ford as a brand has a large following. And a strong pedigree of classics. Kia has none of that.

Really?
There are alot of 80s and 90s Japanese cars that people rubbished (used your exact line) that are bringing in ridiculous money now..

Don't see why it cant happen with the Stinger

Bought by people passionate about the brand most likely. Or jdm lovers.

Again, not something that will help the stinger one day become collectable.

But yes some cars that were laughed at in the day became collectable later on. But the stinger has not been laughed at, it’s just largely been ignored by buyers. Hard to see a case for it in the future with so little attraction or attention given to it now.

You can see what Kia was TRYING to do (give us a replacement for the performance Commodore and Falcon), and good on them, but what they didn't seem to grasp is that the very reason the Falcon and Commodore died off was that the buying public has moved on from large sedans.... Its a great car but with this segment being largely ignored these days its days an AU are numbered...

Maybe it was released about 4-5 years too early. Those who wanted a Falcodore, bought the last of the species and are not ready to change to a new RWD car.
Another drawback could be that it is a hatch, not a sedan. Buyers who want a rear door/window go for a wagon.
After it departs Aus, owners of VFs and FGXs which have reached changeover time could be rueing a missed opportunity, along with KIA.

That price range is an extremely and competitive one.

I doubt KIA ever thought it would be a big seller, rather another component of their wide line up of vehicles.

I reckon they've done a top job and raised the bar for the opposition hence good sellers in other categories.

Um no, it had nothing to do with commodore or falcon at all. It was designed to sell in the us. We are a pimple of the car buying world’s bum and we had no bearing on it’s inception.

It was pure coincidence it was conceived when falcon and commodore were being killed off. But yeah bad timing, cause people are moving away from large sedans/liftbacks to suv’s.

I never said it was developed for that purpose, I was talking about offering it here in this market at that time...

I hope no one buys a Stinger and hate KIA.

Can then pick one up ultra cheap in a year or two and nail many "fast" cars for half the price, whilst still under new warranty.......
