Well....car sales reports this....

There's no word on pricing for the Mach 1 but the faster performance variant of the Ford Mustang has already been ruled out for our market, with Ford Australia saying: “The Mach 1 news is specific to the US. Here in Australia, we’re proud of Mustang R-SPEC as our halo model, with the 2020 GT and 2.3L High Performance models offering greater value and choice for this iconic nameplate”.

Unless FoA is playing coy to make sure current stock is all sold and off dealer floors...or future releases of R SPEC is planned and they want to recover the R&D further...

Either way it would be a crying shame if FoA/Herrod play games with Aussies to protect that project.

Here are the parts borrowed from previous models:

Performance Pack Level 2
Brake Booster
 Brembo six-piston front brakes

Shelby GT350
Intake manifold
Oil filter adapter
Engine oil cooler system
 Tremec 3160 six-speed manual
Incandescent park/turn lamps
Front subframe and rear subframe with stiffer bushings
Tire fitment (Handling Package only)

Shelby GT500
Rear axle cooling system
Rear toe-link
Rear tire spats and lower diffuser
Swing spoiler in low-gloss Magnetic with Gurney flap (Handling Package only)

I see Grabber Yellow is on the colour chart. I wish they would have done the press release shots in this so I could see what it looks like.

So can one take a regular 5.0, add the GT350 intake and TB, tune and get the same results as for as power goes?

FRPP already has those parts available. So yes you can get the same parts for a GT.

That would be poor form especially as they made it a limited edition.

I wish Herrod/FoA had just put the diff, engine oil and gearbox oil coolers in as standard. Was annoyed that they didn't do this especially when the standard GT already suffers from heat issues.

It was purely speculation on my part! But, I wonder what the business case was to make that engine in the R SPEC...one or more runs?

Otherwise why would they not make this available to Australia?

The wide wheels was an issue due to sticking out beyond the body work but guards might help here. Noise regs with the exhaust would be interesting as well.

Don't forget the Gearbox oil cooler as well!

You'd be happy to hear I've cancelled my Model 3 order for this car. It better turn up!

Yes, to make it more functional (bottom left and right grill to allow better air flow) unless you're talking about the faux driving lights.

Hahahaha! That is exactly the business case I put to the wife. She said ok as long as I put a roll cage into it.

No the shape. Saw one yesterday and it looked a bit wierd compared to others I saw since first brought out.

Pro Farnsworth Grabber Lime looks the same at front yet the one near me is bolder at front (may be a mod etc)

Shouldn't. Only difference is the extra splitter on the handing pack (the white car in the press pictures).

Completely off topic but you are referring to the FM to FN change, and yes I thought it looked like rubbish at the start but I have come around.

Thank you for the differential. I don't like it near as much but each to their own.

It's not off topic as the photos on the car in thread has the same change.

I can imagine, random thought last night, imagine if FoA had plans for a R SPECII that used the Mach 1 as a base.

I wouldnt like it but that leaves the door open for a considerable upgrade on the first version.

I cant think of a good reason Ford wouldnt bring this here. If the GT350 will never happen then this would make sense, its so much more than the Bullit we got.

It will be available in RHD. Confirmed. So there are really no excuses for it to not come here.

But who knows if they will find a reason to not bring it here

I was thinking it was going to be nothing more than a slightly improved PP2, but it actually takes it even further by using the aero bits like the flat floor, rear diffuser and wing from the GT500. Plus the engine, trans and diff coolers from the Shelby models, and brake cooling ducts.

And the Tremec manual from the GT350. Although some bits only come with the handling package.

Why didn't they fit the lights standard?

ps; can't find it now but I read Ford weren't going to do it. Maybe that's wrong.

Apparently fitting the lights didn’t comply with safety regulations. They are hoping the aftermarket industry will solve that for them.

Thanks mate.

Gee it would seem hard to solve if a manufacturer can't get it done with much higher resources, but fingers crossed as not the same without them imo!!

Aftermarket compliance is often less stringent than what a manufacturer has to comply with. I agree though that it will look super cool with some lights in those holes...

If it's a Photoshop it's a damned good one because the badge isn't flipped.
I can understand FOA not wanting to say much while it's still selling R-Spec
but I wonder if another special Mustang is coming our way.,...
