My New Mondeo

Hi Guys and Gals

I just want to dote over my new arrival, a 2010 MB Panther Black Titanium Wagon. Picked her up Ex Demo with 4300 klm on the clock. Traded my Xr6 Turbo in for it. Took the family down to the coast today to show off to the parents and Super Saturday at a mate's place. Barely saw the fuel gauge move.

Need to spend a bit tomorrow to program in phone numbers and radio stations and to play with the toys in it more.

The wife took some other photo's so once I get my hands on those I'll post them up, but in the mean time...

Yep, Senior sold it to me.

it looks smaller in the drive way, but in the garage it takes just about the same amount of room!

My MB XR5 hatch is good, but a wagon mit 6spd manual would be more versatile....in Tango or Blue Ambition pls

It's part of the adaptive cruise.

I had turned on all the options and chimes today. Decided to turn off the genral info and warnings, now I can open a door in peace. I do like the Home Perimeter lighting, particularly as my garage is dead black at night.

Adaptive cruise takes a little getting used to, just got to get a feel for the distance before i need to change lanes. Washes off speed before I'm ready.

Anyway I promised more pics

Im not sure about the MB but on the MC theres a rocker switch on the steering wheel below where you turn the cruise control on that lets you vary the gap to the car in front. It alters the time to the car so the distance is variable depending on your speed.

The MB's got it too, maybe "my" two second gap was closer to a second and a half

My MB XR5 has the distance switch. Supposedly 2secs, more like 3secs. And doesn't feel consistent slow-down trigger gap at 100km/h either.

And I'm still trying to get used to the early speed auto-drop...18000kms later. And I use the cruise everyday going to work.

Even on tailgate mode (1-bar) it is too far away. You can't float up behind someone and then move out with (still) plenty of gap to continue to float past. Although I have become more sensitive to subtle changes in road speed, so there is some positive to the feature.

You can kill the adaptive cruise control, but then you have no cruise control at all. (Look under Settings menu....)

that's because it isn't just based on distance. it also takes into account the speed of the vehicle you're approaching. depending on how slow it is going it slows you faster or slower... i usually reduce mine to the lowest setting and change lanes as soon as the car in front is detected.

i drove a BA falcon hire car the other day and i can tell you, adaptive cruise shits all over standard cruise!!

Im with you Mondo the adaptive cruise is in a whole other league to standard cruise its one of my favorite things on the car.

Looks great, much better than the NZ wagons. We're getting the new model in Zetec trim but no Titanium wagon.

Panther Black is a great colour for the Mondeo as long as you enjoy keeping it clean!
