Default Wheels

Hi Guys. Just wondering if anyone knows a good site for wheels for the Mondeo. I'm thinkin about getting a set of aftermarket rims for the XR5, but not sure where to start. Just wondering if anyone has any good sites or recommendations for places to start looking.

Thanks

I've got the MA. No, i'll be hanging onto them. I'm starting to look ahead a little so when it comes time for tyres, I might do a tyre and wheel package.

There's not a lot of choice for euro Ford wheels because the Mondeo has an unusual PCD pattern (5x108) and a high offset (55 mm). You might have more choice than we do in NZ, otherwise you could check out suppliers in the UK.

I bought a set of Italian wheels last year (MAK) on special. Better quality than most of the aftermarket stuff and full CE approval.

That's what I was thinking. Locally I didn't think there would be much available. I ight have a look on some euro forums.

Thanks

dwayne, there's heaps of links in the wheel threads at XR5turbs. you can still log on there yeah?

btw... i just fitted a set of LV Focus snowflakes to my Mondeo. Looks absolutely sex!!

btw... offset from 45-55 is ok. my previous wheels (motegi's) were 45 offset and looked great, filled the arch better than stockers did. the focus wheels are 52.5 but still look ok.

This might sound odd but is the size/offset the same as the Focus?

If so the Ford Racing catalog has some nice rims for the Focus/Feista.

not exactly. bucknaked has an MA XR5. the offset is +55. Focus XR5 has an offset of +52.5. they both have a PCD of 5x108. stock size is 18"x8" but Mondeo's run 235 tyres whereas Focii mostly run 225's. fiesta is a 4 stud pattern so none of those will fit.

Focus wheels are fine, I nearly bought a set of 18" XR5 rims for my first Mondeo but was concerned about the ride on what pass for roads in NZ.

Hi Pete

Any chance you can post a pic of your Mondeo with the LV rims? I'd love to see how it turned out.

No, I'm not a member there anymore.

Thanks

Dwayne

Thanks Dallas. I do love the LV rims. Those are 19's. I wonder how much better the bigger size looks. They look great in 18's. I do like the factory Mondeo ones, but I'm looking for a change.

The other day I saw a sea grey XR5 with some nice dished rims. Seen it twice now and both times I've been stuck in traffic unable to get back around in time. If I can ever catch up, will take some pics. The rims were a dish style and I'm pretty sure painted centres with a chrome dish. In motion, looked really nice and really complimented the shape of the Mondeo. This is really what has prompted me to go for something different.

hi dwayne, sure mate. as for the 19", wheels look great on beef's car, but tyre selection is problematic as far as a legal load rating goes. really limits your tyre choice.

I think I remember he was getting a set of the LV rims. Didn't know the 19's existed till you sent me that link.

Those wheels look expensive. Billet would be nice, but more than likely out of my price range. Thanks for the link. I might have a good look through and make some enquiries if I find something I like.

That looks great Pete. Really suits the Mondeo. Your car looks so different now to the way it was with first set you had. The Black ones you ordered in.

Thanks guys for your help. Much appreciated

You will be surprised how cheap you can get a set of billet wheels in from the states.

http://driverzinc.com/

is a good place to go through.

Your right, I had a look at some of the prices and they are cheaper than I expected.

I've finally fitted the MAK wheels to my new Mondeo. I'll post some pics when I've cleaned the car - I'm working in a quarry at the moment and the car is covered in mud!

The Falken F K-452 tyres are WAY better then the OEM Goodyear "Excellence" rubbish.
