Question WANTED: Mk II Escort Coupe

Just wanting to know if anyone has a Mk II Escort Coupe for sale. (2 doors, not 4!)

Looking for a good rolling shell or body, not too rusty. Not overly concerned about the condition of the drivetrain, can build all of that myself.

Am in Victoria, but willing to travel for the right car and the right price.

Post on here, or message me if you need. Willing to pay good money for the right car!

Escort coupe is a common term for the 2 door escorts.

I thought a two door or in Ford speak a Tudor? I bought one new in 72 and they where never called that by Ford as far as I can remember. Plus if you study Ford body shapes over the years and naming conventions they are definately a Tudor (ie a two door sedan body (same roof line) with two doors) and not a Coupe or hardtop (ie a convertable looking body style with two doors that has a steel roof and usually a factory top chop compared to a sedan body).

It makes sence what your saying, & they probably should be called an escort tudor, but I suppose it doesnt have the same "ring" to it.

It is a common mistake that alot of people use to discribe the 2 door escorts, even Rare Spares refer to them as a coupe

Back on track & theres one in the sales thread, looks pretty nice, but its in WA. Its also a coupe

Yeah when I was young there was always a Capri Envy thing going on in Escort owners (Ford did call Capri coupes and back then they did look better). Guys used to put Capri bumpers and bits and pieces on the escorts to jazz em up. But a tough escort would always outdo a Capri in the handling stakes back then. The Capris where more of a GT than a racer. Ah the days.......

Haha I'm not overly concerned on the terminology! I would say that the two door is a coupe as that is kind of the general term for it, but not worried about the wording just want the car!!! :P

funny, when you have one for sale no one wants one. I had a fairly rust free mk1 2 door shell that ended up going to a parts wrecker because no one wanted it. About 6 months before I was selling a mk2 Cortina & everone wanted the escort that was in the background of the pics.

You can try calling Brian at Classic Small Ford Spares.
Factory One, Rear 11 Lincoln Street,
Minto, NSW
Tel 9603-5333

He is the guy that bought my mk1 & also comes across other cars. So he may have one or can track one down for you.

Thanks anyway guys, I ended up finding one in Victoria (and only an hour away too!)

Got her for a steal at $3300, nice paint job, retrimmed interior, only the tiniest bubble of rust around the rear window and next to no repairs needed for a roadworthy! Very lucky girl

Ummmm....don't know about that. I've tracked both my Escort and my Capri and I reckon the handling on the Capri is a lot better. Escorts more fun in the corners....back end is all over the shop....Capri is a lot more stable in a straight line and a bit more forgiving on the novice racers (like myself)

On the coupe/2dr theme.....they are classified as 2 door sedans not coupes but sometimes when they are registered they are listed as coupes. My opinion has always been that a coupe has an open section (no b-pillar) rather than a fixed window behind the pillar, as in the escorts case.
