The deceased owners name was Capron. He owned a lot of property in Separation St, all filled with cars in varying condition. Rumour had it his estate was worth $300m.

Hello,

The term " Junk " is subjective. If there were a few Phase 3's and a Phase 4 that were a little dusty with some surface rust would they be junk ? Complete Cars are great for a resto, most old Cars now are crushed as scrap after the good bits are stripped. The newer ones are full of plastic and electronics that will make them hard to restore. Any complete old Car in good condition is worth money.

The Australian outback is littered with past memories, you just have to get out there and have a look around

But there are no phase 3's in that lot, let alone a GT
yes Junk is a subjective term "one mans junks is another mans treasure"

but worth money? I could see some old trucks that might be in the right hands. but what's a Datsun 1200 or XF ute worth?

Just because theres no GT's, HO's or anything like that in the auction doesnt make any of it junk.

Back when these cars were new, not everyone could afford a GT or even a GS, sometimes you'd be doing well to be able to afford a 302 and column shift auto, but thats the car you drove, and thats what made memories for whole generations

Your comments are fanboy themselves.

I'm a Holden person and I'm not one eyed, both are very cloudy.

And I can say this, when I see a car old or new of any make or model left to the weather, I definitely get.

Hello,

The old Valiants were a very overlooked Aussie Car. Last of the US big 3 in and first to go. They came close, but if only they had a Bathurst win. Some of the Utes would be worth a bit in the US as they never had them. Most youngsters would not recognize one, but in many ways they were ahead of the crowd. 1981 was the last IIRC. A while ago now !

That smacks of a mental disorder. Classics rotting in the open air and completely worthless POS damaged cars under cover. Hoarder syndrome...

From what I've been told, he was fairly eccentric. Left behind a fairly significant estate, so must have been reasonably sane. Some of the under cover cars are worth a bit....

Some nice old Ford trucks in that lot. The green/yellow XF ute looked pretty good as well.

Nah, just old farmers

Never waste, never throw away, just put him in the shed, probably come in handy one day

It makes me feel sentimental and smile a little

But also sad that attitude and those salt of the earth types seem to be fading away over time

I was referring to pictures 6,7 & 8. In case you didn't look, there are cars there that could be worth something, but they are covered in junk and it would take some time and effort to get to them. That was the gist of my post.
And having been an owner of six classic cars - I am fully aware of their value.

I'm not sure what people could afford back in the day has got to do with anything.
Theres some old trucks there, but there is also Bent & rusted VK commodores etc
As of today most of those cars are junk. and will end up in the scrap heap.

There's an *** for every seat and I guarantee some of those cars destined for the scrap heap will go to someone who thinks they're an 'investment for the future'. As they say, a sucker and his money are easily parted.
