And that goes two ways. A little mutual respect from both sides would do wonders for the longevity of many threads here.

I have noticed this with a lot of Holden drivers, infact most. I work with loads of dudes that drive Holdens and they are the first to bag a Ford as soon as you mention you drive one. They will refuse to see your point of view at all and blindly spout out bullshit that is more often than not inaccurate. As soon as you say something about a Holden they get super defensive and act like spoiled children. They are sore losers and will rarely EVER give praise to a Ford.

I work with another crane operator who told me if I want to get more power out of my GS then I should get an OTR intake

I've also had another young dude I worked with ask if my old FG XR8 had a 5.7ltr in it when I pulled up next to him.

It's funny how they know little about Fords but will be the first to claim they know everything, and that their mates fully *** VE SS is a "WEAPON BRO".

So glad I don't drive Holdens, bloody rednecks.

I find I know plenty of respectful holden drivers. Of course it probably helps we are all pretty honest analytical people and we openly discuss the flaws of each car and praise the good things.

Perhaps it's a 2 way thing more than some people think? Choose your words wisely and holden guys aren't so bad.

Worst one-eyed fans are Toyota people...
Met plenty of them and quite often they will only ever drive a Toyota and refuse to drive anything else.
One-eyed Holden fans will generally not drive Fords, but will drive other brands.
One-eyed Ford fan are generally happy to drive anything.

Toyota guys are only so bad because they don't realise what a soul sucking lifeless car most Toyota's are.

It's a shame they make great motors but they really wrap them in a ****.

It just depends on what you drive to how you find the other camp. Reading people comment here on how holden fans respond to things sounds exactly how the blue oval fans respond. Everything is always anti ford and conspiracies fly left, right and center. When holden has more HP its a stupid gauge, when ford has more then its all that matters. Holden is inferior in every way and the ford cannot be faulted.

I can't count how many ford owners have scoffed at me when filling up about my crap fuel consumption from my dinosaur push rod engine (~12L/100km) and that their turbo 6 is faster. Truth be told, I don't give a damn, I like both current cars equaling but my motoring passion is with the xc that sits in my shed slowly being worked on.

Trick is to enjoy yourself and to be honest with yourself, the biggest critic of my car is me. Everyone is so quick to tell me that my VF is ugly and to point faults but they don't know the half of it, the passenger seat belt.... OMG!! BUT, I enjoy it and that's all that counts.

Putting the flame suit on, I think your spot on about many turbo 6 owners nova. I'm not sure why it is, but they do it to GT owners just as much as they probably do it to you

Of course that's a generalisation and there are many sensible turbo owners too.

The sensible turbo owners seem to badge their cars, tinker with them and let you think they are just a daft twit wanting to give you a go in a xr6. Who then let their tail lights do the talking while they walk away from you which always brings a smile to my face. These are the guys who, if they pull over, you can stop and have a chat to for ages.

Worse than either camp is the moron who tells you that he has X POS car at home which will cream your cars and only cost $X000.00 amount and that your a fool (13sec for $1300 for example). That sir is called jealousy, deal with it, don't be bitter.

I'd be just as happy to chat to someone about their corolla as I would any other car as long as they have a passion for it, all too often people find out I like cars and move away....

To me blind brand loyalty doesn't make sense because manufacturers tend to leapfrog one another and I think that's actually the case with the Aurion. I don't particularly like them, but to give credit where credit is due, they are rockets for an everyday family car.

I loaned my Racelogic performance Box to a friend who had an Aurion, and under fairly ordinary humid warm conditions he got around a 6.6 second time to 100 and I recall Wheels (admittedly with a very light driver) getting a 6.1 to 100 and a 14.2 sec 400 metre time. That could be a high 13 second 1/4 mile time if the car was shallow staged.

Aurions are awesome. Would happily have on as a family car. Sound great, and plenty of punch, I really dont think it would be that far behind my old stock G6et. And build quality was fine. Sporty seats, and it really is a decent package. Except in the rain. Deadly thing in the rain.

If the Aurion was available in a manual that engine would be quite a interesting drive.

OT, but...
The Aurion is surprisingly punchy. However I do doubt it is even a shadow of a stock G6eT after 20km/h. Many SS/C63/WRX owners would testify to this.

It's a surprise about being deadly in the rain. Being FWD I would have expected them to be pretty benign.

The motoring article is quite well written and balanced. I'm not sure they should’ve drawn conclusions on which car puts it down better given no one has done same day runs in equivalent transmission cars.

So they dynoed the GTF 9 times to make sure nothing was amiss. They are surprised by the result.

Why?

It's common knowledge that the GT's make similar power so it's only logical that the 351kw GT is going to have even more power. Not only this but other car makes use small capacity V8's with even greater power, so why are they so surprised? It's newer tech than the boat anchor 6.2.

See this is what bothers me, everyone is always so quick to doubt Ford and say this and that and then when facts like this arise everyone questions it. If the HSV made more power they would do the one run and print the results.

Why is it so hard to believe a 5.0l can make this amount of power? The euro brands have been doing it for years.

In my experience, most Ford fans drive Fords. But only about 70% of Holden fans actually drive Holdens. Explain that one (rhetorical....).

Have the figures been posted yet? In the "other" thread, figures of just over 300 for the GTS and 340 for the GTF have been posted. Any official confirmation of this, or too much egg on face for the confirmation to be forthcoming?

All Ford need to do is freshen it for the last Falcon and it should be enough to see out its days. I don't get the plastic comments though, maybe its just the HSV has fake carbon, fake alcantara and fake leather glued to its dash. Build quality is definitely better in the older FG. Great to see the GTF get up on the dyno for the overall bigger power figure and I think there must be some servicing that need to be done to its brakes the way they disliked them. Motoring usually stick it to Ford and although review is accurate for the most part its a constant belittling of the Ford product and does not need to be written up the way it is. Even the dyno result claims everyone is surprised when thats just not the case for anyone who actually has a finger on the pulse. They were the same mob that slammed the Rspec rather than complementing the GTS and then faked a drag video in the wet.

Default Re: Final FPV sparks kilowatt controversy (GT-F vs GTS)

Both cars are copiously overpowered for the street where the majority will spend their lives. We are spoilt and bickering over meaningless numbers. Hopefully Wheels swallow their pride shortly publish their corrected results and we can all get on with mourning the impending passing of our homegrown heroes.

I think you're right there Bonn it seems Holden don't even need to get close to claim power and no one blinks an eye. I'd be pretty upset buying a car with a 4 in front of the power number if it dynoed with a 2 in front... (Yes there are some gts's that have only pulled high 200 at the rear wheels)
