air intake on 1600

got a question bout air intakes and carbys. do u want hot air going in or cold air. i know with efi u want cold air but i think with carbs u want hot air.

any suggestions on good air intake setups?
eskys standard 1600 with the motocraft carby. didnt have the original air cleaner and the piece of crap that was on it is letting in way 2 much air and im getting back fires
need sum suggestions 4 a replacement and also jetting.
got the stock 137 main at the mo and wanna know wot to go up 2
any help would b good

u want cold air going in, no matter what the engine, the colder the air the more dense it is. n the denser it is means u can cram more of it in the cylinders... thus intercooling with turbo cars.....

a good set up would be a bit like the old toyota hi-ace set up... they had the carb then had tubing running off it into a pod-like filter in the side panel.. this means it can suck fresh cold air in, instead of hot old air from in the engine bay.

as for the carby, dont bother with the original 1, spend the $$ n get, at least one 40mm weber... two 45mm's would no doubt kick *** but they will cost u a fair penny... go with the single i guarantee u will notice a decent gain

by the way ur lookin at about $250 for the single carb with the manifold, but u can get em as cheap as about $150 if u shop around

I agree with what rota-eski said, you want the coolest air possible going in, and the standard motorcraft carby is rubbish, if you can replace it with a webber you'll be much happier with it.
