Default OBD2 Scan Tool

I now have an ODB2 scan tool for my Truck, but it supposedly also works on BA - BF falcons. So if anyone ever gets any error codes that they want to know what they mean, or error codes removed, PM me and I am more than happy to help out. Don't think it works on anything older than BA, so sorry A & E series guys!

AU2 and up had an OBD2 port.

I've got a scanner too, great bit of kit. Is yours an all in one hand held bit of kit. Mine is simple an interface that requires a PC/Laptop to view the results.

Cool - looks like I can do AU2s as well.

Mine's the hand held unit. $75 off ebay, and works a treat. Pulls up VIN, all error codes, shows the data logged when an error code was stored (rpm, temp, etc etc). Also clears codes after the error is fixed.

Where'd you get 51 from? All the codes I've seen a 4 digits long.

hey JC, what vehicles does your scan tool cover ? Is it a universal or Fords only?

Can anybody recommend a universal type OBD2 scan tool that a mechanic workshop would use?

OBD2 tools are universal (well, more or less*) it's the software you have that determines how much info you can get from it. Generic stuff will only return the OBD2 essential and optional information. Skipped for example any extras Ford put in. If you have the Ford software you'd get all of it.

*There's a few different electrical protocols involved, but most tools these days can read all of them. For a B series Falcon ensure the tool supports 'CAN'
