Not sure I've used stag and other sealants when putting them in but generally remove and replace rather than bugger a rebuilt motor.
Cheers,

I'd change it, once heat and pressure build up it will most likely let you down. They usually take up after running due to small deposits in your coolant settling in but this changes when heat and pressure come into effect.
Sorry mate but I wouldn't chance it. I've just rebuilt my sons race engine and the cost of doing that (and I did the work myself) is not worth the chance.
Cheers,
Les

If the plug is new and the small leak has taken up then what is the problem?
Fair enough race engine preparation is a whole different ball game but this is a road car. I say if it aint broke dont fix it.
A good thing to do would be to get a new radiator cap and make sure the pressure rating is not more than specified. Better still get a cap that lets water out to a seperate tank and then sucks it back as the engine cools down this way you dont lose coolant or overpressurize the cooling system thus protecting the aforementioned welsh plugs.
