I have a 2008 turbo diesel mondeo that the air cond has failed on .It has plenty of gas in the system but the compressor and radiator fan wont run .Air cond is on at controls ac fuse is ok and relay looks ok .If anyone has a wiring diagram or any ideas it would be much appreciated

 it did work ,not that great , but now not at all .Havent looked at it yet I will post my findings when I get it working again. |

Hi, I'm no auto refrigeration expert, but I have seen that some people have gotten better performance from the MA series A/C units by increasing the refrigerant charge.
Dealers won't do this if you complain and they find the gas charge level is at the volume (weight?) in the tech specs. But an auto refrig mechanic should be able to inject some extra gas and apparently it improves matters. Our car has been satisfactory, so long as you don't ask for too low a temperature on a very hot day and you use the "all windows down" facility as you approach the car, especially if the car is parked in the sun. It gives the accumulated hot interior air a change to disperse and this lowers the load on the A/C system. Cheers

Update as of 5 mins ago AC is working .It looks like fuse F7 which supplies power to relay R3 had a bad connection because as soon as I removed it and replaced it AC works ,will continue to monitor .Thanks to Glenn for wiring diagram and Russ for back up offer .

I have a similar problem but have tracked it down with the help of an auto electrician. I will start another thread on it but will post here as well. The thermo fan is linked to the computer by a control module which is incorporated on the fan itself. If it or the fan fails, the ac will not work. The bad news is that you can not buy them separately and there appears to be no aftermarket option. Brand new from Ford it will set you back $800. But wait, there's more. They will then hit you another $500 to fit it. I have had a look at how to fit one but it looks a bit tricky. may have to pull the front off it.

Just been told by mechanic that my condenser is leaking.
The good news is its just a $250 part. The bad news is that due to the way its located, its 7 hours labour to get at it and fit it! total nearly $1,300. IF you live in sydney, I'll be the bloke driving round with windows open on hot days. |

i would get more quotes on That. i was quoted on the fitting and the fan from 1 ford dealer 1300 dollars got other quotes and finally got it done for under 800 dollars. There seems to bea big difference in prices. As always when you get a quote you want get them to email it to you.

Well after many months I finally found the problem .The coil for the clutch on the air con compressor was faulty .My car had been in a crash and the female plug on the compressor was damaged .So after having to degass the system and remove the compressor to repair , it is now going again just in time for winter

I had the thermo fan replaced on mine and it seemed to fix the problem.... for one day. It then didnt work again. This time it turned out to be the high/low pressure switch that had failed. all up it cost around $1400 and 3 rounds of golf while I waited for it. Like I said to the service manager, that has to be the most expensive golf I have ever played!!
