True but saying that the only thing bad about it is the price means that they dont like the car because its out of reach, or too much for a hatch? A GTP is $75-80k...why is that a better proposition?

FWD vs AWD vs RWD is another topic that depends on yoru perspective. The only RWD small car is a 1 series BMW and look at the price of that.

AWD increase price, complexity and weight, all the things you dont want in a hatch. A RWD/AWD version would be sweet but if it yield no performance advantage over than some Top Gear powerslides then is that really useful?

2) It's a part of history and
3) (and this applies to why I have the XR5) the look on peoples faces in RWD v8's as you run rings around them in "a girls fwd" is just priceless and never gets old

In all seriousness, I'm sure it's fantastic.

Being a big bloke, I've never understood the advantage of cramming into a small car...
I understand all the power to weight... yada, yada ...

But at the end of the day, everything in life is a compromise ...

There's comfort, quality, looks, sound, handling, performance, size, etc
Each and every one of us will prioritise these aspects in a different order...

There's nothnig wrong with being different, is there?
My first priority is size ...it must be a full size sedan at all cost.
I'm happy to compromise all else for this ...

This is why this apparently great car means nothing to me.
They're just shoe boxes on wheels, a Yaris on steroids!
Now tell us what you like in cars instead of picking on sailboats.

more like being ignorant.
Try handling for one point. No factory Falcon could come near this thing in terms of handling.

Depends on what you think a compromise is. You're not forced to buy the car so there is no compromise. There are a whole lot of large barges for you to pick from.

Why would you be looking at this car or even thinking about compromising for one? You're obviously not the target market.
Shoe box on wheels it may be but it sure beats a barge with wheels.

I suggest before you go on with ignorant bashing of a car you know nothing about, go to google and have a look at the specs/tech and then you'd be able to answer your last question about what people who would buy this car look for in a car.

You just admitted not know about the car because you dont "fit", you cant dismiss a car on that premises. Im sure you would actually fit as no one really sits in the back so there would be able room to put the seat backwards.

This car will hold its value in years to come, where as with your FPV GT you've already lost $10k just driving out of the dealership

Obviously you are not the target market so this argument is pointless .... move along and leave the thread to those with an interest.

Congo, did you get any photos of the car that was done up with everything? $52k though is a bit low, you sure it wasn't an XR5?

My only problem with this RS, is that its 3 years too early... maybe the next RS will arrive just in time for end of lease

hhhmmm...
Im 6'4" and 120ish kg... i found my LR focus the best fitting car on the planet, i felt more comfortable in that than my parents Territory and a hire falcon i had on and off at the time..... it was perfect... the LS-LV loses a bit of leg room due to the centre stack, but, hell, its still better than just about every other small and large car on the planet... EU design = a design to suit all body shapes and sizes... and they do it effing well too. End of story. you may not be ignorant, but, what you may be, is unable to look past the fact that the focus or the mondeo for that fact is a substitute for a Falcon, if you need better economy, or SWMBO needs a vehicle which is a little easier to park on a day to day basis....... hell in most circumstances they handle better too.... thats unless you prefer to spend lots on rear tyres, sliding the tail out at every chance you get.....

Don't let the size of the car fool you, I am 6'1" and if I put the seat all the way back in the Mini I can not reach the pedals. In the F6 Typhoon the seat does not go back that far.

Guess it depends what you want in a car. For us the Mini is great in traffic, easy to park, good on fuel and goes like a scolded cat. If we need size, we have the Typhoon. Personally I love driving both of them, they are very different cars with very different experiences.

I had a look at an RS at BBF, even in white (I hate white cars), they look hot. I hope they bring more in, I will have to have a look at them next year when the Mini is up for replacement if they do. I think I will take mine in blue thanks, would look great next to my shockwave typhoon.

If it was 5 door, then it was an XR5.

The only RS' coming here are 3 doors (and as far as I knew there were no RS' in 5 door config anywhere, ever).

And Gecko, this is your one chance bud. Only 315 units coming in and they are the last off the production line. After this, there is no more 5 pot goodness.

Unfortunately that is not an option as there is still 12 months remaining on the novated lease for the Mini

You are welcome, I saw no need to attack.

I made my points because a lot of people assume small cars have no leg room. When I have people say "a Mini, how do you fit in that", my favourite game is to put the front seat all the way back and then ask them to get in and push the clutch to the floor, 99% of people can't do it (I can't at 6'1").

It is all just a matter of perspective, perspective is something we all vary on. Sometimes I love the big, soft, comfortable and powerful barge that is the F6, sometimes I'm in the mood for the go cart, slightly harsh but very sporty and always fun Mini.

Personally I see the RS as perhaps a really good mix between the two, although I would have to experience one to work it out

Nice pics OP, I like the blue

Thought you guys might like to see some photos I took at NuFord on the weekend...

They look incredible in the flesh!* :smitten:

As it was a sold car I didn't get to check out the interior or engine but they are amazing just to look at. I have a new goal to own a white RS in the next two years.

Full set Here

Can you recall what that white sticker said on the left-side of the Hatch?

A warning that a 224kw Hot Hatch will put a smile on your dial, perhaps?

Just sat in the green one, I had to check out the seats and position. It's perfect, i'm 6ft 4 and could comfortably thrash the heck out of it without being limited in legroom or anything unlike the falcons (steering wheel fouls on my legs sometimes as it's not high enough) I haven't actually driven it but you know when you're really comfortable with the steering/pedal/shifter position?

The seats are some of the most comfy seats i've sat in - they should be though considering to buy them off Recaro would probably be about $2000 per seat lol.. If i had a set i'd never have back problems again!

The photos really don't do that green justice. It's hard to photograph with a normal camera.

I won't post my iphone pics from today at the track as the crispymk2 pics say it all and far better quality as the car deserves.
Seeing this in the flesh today confirms to me what an absolute weapon she is !
Blow the rex/evo's/golf's if if I ever wanted a top performance hatch these are it !!!

And then some, the Recaro with side airbag seats in the JCW catologue for Mini's are $7000 a pair.

These are a really great car to have running around - good to see Ford putting out some performance orientated stuff other than your usual Falcon based offerings.

The one thing that annoys me about these is that they dont come in a 5 door - if I could get a 5 door in white I reckon I'd be sold. Well until I had to work out how to pay for it anyway
