We just ordered 2 x - XL 4x4 Double cab 2023.5 - cab chassis $55,500 on road each. Delivery is May 2023. ..so not in stock

Spoke to transmission guy last week , the 10 speed auto has its issues , he says he sees 20 Ranger Auto to 1 Isuzu come thru his workshop for Rebuilds. Thought Ford had sorted the Auto issues with the Rangers ? anyway i guess the extended warranty they offer now is lot better than previous models. Fingers Crossed.

Would this also relate to the ratio of Ranger to Isuzu on the road?

Probably, there would be more latest gen Dmaxs/BT50 on the road than Rangers, not good for the 10speed.

How so, there would be far more 10 speed auto Rangers on the road then any of those two as the previous model Ranger was also a 10 speed..plus every auto in the US Ford market is usually the 10 speed when not the 8 speed....

Cant say I recall a month where Ranger outsold Dmax 20 to 1.
2 to 1 yes, but that wouldnt explain the 20 to 1 trans failure rate the mechanic suggests.

So the 10 speed came in with the 2.0 twin turbo & I know there were complaints about it finding the right gear, the 3.2s wee still running the old trans. apparently with the new ones this is all sorted.

But can you dig your transmission specialist friend for more details of what was going wrong, Im always dubious about "the 10 speed auto has its issues"

most of these cars would still be under warranty, so an external shop wouldnt see many yet

nothing against the Isuzu , they are very reliable I hear maybe just missing a lot of features.., Im surprised he's seen any issues with them let alone rebuilds

Pump gears are the issue, my old employer had his Wildtrak replaced after having the pump gears done twice followed by a full box replacement and finally a blown brake hose.
In the early days they we're doing software updates but like the old powershift issues it was only a bandaid fix.
My mate had his done and reckoned all it did was have the trans shift through all gears everytime rather than skipping gears as originally designed.

Id be interested to know with any of the new Rangers what sort of shift behavior it has.

I'm assuming you have opted for the Bi-Turbo if you are mentioning the 10-speed? The single turbo 2.0 is paired with the older 6-speed.

This article by drive has turned into a huge backfire. XL was the highest selling Ranger model in Feb.
