Your choice or Insurers to take it to Narellan Smash? I think everyone around here knows someone who works there, so good choice.
Will you get another leased car or are you on your own now?
Oh, and don't think this gets you out of the B Series & Euro meet!! You don't get to get out that easily! We have far too many shennanigans to pull!

Sean, glad you're OK mate. When i got your MMS I nearly crapped myself, that's why I called to maske soure you were OK.

As I said on the phone too, Stability Control would have made this write-off nothing more than 3 or 4 flashes of an orange light - DEFINITELY comes highly recommended from me having saved an occurrence like this once before in my Focus. It's always there backing you up in the event of something like a puddle or oil patch. All we care now is that you're OK and that the car did it's job so amazginly to keep you protected inside the passenger cell.

I've seen a Fiesta smacked head-on at 60km/h with the engine snapped off and rolled under the firewall the way it's designed to. The side sindows weren't even broken and the door frames weren't event bent, driver simply got out sore but unharmed. They're tough little things and I know there' no other small car I'd rather be in, especially not a Barina...

Anyway, best of luck with the finances mate, if you're hunting for a new car, keep Stability Control in mind as an important feature and definitely as already recommended, have a go at an Advanced Driver Training Day just to see how everything works and how things react in these kinds of situations.

Catch you at AFD! Bring a piece of the car so it's there in spirit.

Here's a famous lift-off oversteer video... the Peugeot 206 crash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbHBs11r2Ms

And here's some other random shots of Fiestas in their rooves...

Solid little bugger the Fiesta.

I guess it's one way to get Altezzas and lowering...

Glad the car kept you safe.

I did have a couple scary times in the fiesta where the back got quite loose.

I know its hard, but just keep off the brakes and keep the hammer down, steer out of it.

As others mentioned, stability control is a life saver.

Best of luck with the car saving

Sorry to see that Sean, it was such a nice car too. Scary to think that one minute you're driving and the next your hanging upside-down with the car on its roof! But as has already been said; the important thing is that you're OK.

Sorry to hear about your dad's aunt.

And the tools that steal your audio, may a great curse be put down on him/her and his/her own family for at least 2-3 generations.

Don't mean to start anything but all this talk about lift-off oversteer is puzzling. I've only ever gotten lift-off oversteer in the fiesta once and that was when I tried hard to cause it.

can you not get the smash repair company to reimburse you for their stupidity??? if the car was insured, does that include everything in it?? Sorry, but i've never had to deal with insurance claims before etc etc

after many... interesting words with the smash repairers they said they will reimburse me for what was stolen.

They where meant to put the car in a secure compound..yet they didnt so they are liable.

Geez, I don't get on the site for a few days and when I finally do, I am greeted by a very bent black Fez. As others have mentioned, thank God you were in a Fez and not a heap of crap Barina.

Mate, I've had some pretty low times in my life and I now treat them as inevitable stepping stones along the the road of life. You will come out of this a better, wiser person and very unlikely to ever be caught out by oversteer again!!

Glad to hear it's only a few bruises Sean, as it could have been SO MUCH worse. Hope to catch up one day.
Cheers
Gaz

thanks Gaz. well at least you now know that you made the right choice when buying the Fiesta..
You should rest more easily as well, as you have the Ghia, you have Side thorax Airbags as well... So at least you know you are safe.

Will catch up one day, when i finally get another car
