Default AU XR8 oil gauge readings

Changed oil in my AU1 XR8 on weekend.
Replaced Shell Eco 10W/30 With Caltex 10W/40 Semi Syn.
Now the oil pressure gauge sits on a bit over half way at idle but dosent go up when I rev it. Any ideas........

maybe , and i stress maybe ! - funny i was on this topic before so it reminds me that it could be a problem .... check the small black hose running from the rockercover to the air intake (after the airbox , near the throttle body)- on the rockercover end of the hose ( plugged into the rockercover ) is a valve , make sure it isn't jammed open (loosing constant oil pressure into the air intake).
If you just changed your oil then it sounds more like something related with that oil you used if it only just happend after oil change, i doubt it will be the above , but maybe check anyway .also i know this sounds stupid but did you tighten the oil filter enough ?

I recall some one posting before that the AU Oil Pressure Gauges wern't actually set to work and rather they were on or off.
Rus may be able to shed some light on this, he seems to have all fords tech info in his head.

Pretty sure AU1s got real, working gauges, but the 2 & 3 got the on or off gauges.

if she doesn't rattle then don't streess. Then again checking that the oil pressure is aroung 3 bar at idle wouldn't hurt.

Mine is always at the middle, any RPM. It is an AUII Forte with XR dash. Is this normal?

Is what normal? A forte with XR dash? No, that's not normal. Oil pressure showing 1/2 way? Yes, perfectly normal.
