Could it be that ur "custom edit" has netted you most of those gains on what might have been a poor tune on the chiptorque????

Also what makes the pacemakers soo much better than the jmm race series headers??

Finally i find it rather ammusing that you used to eat, sleep and breathe jmm and now your in the exact opposite situation ????

From my understanding, the JMM headers are good for low down and mid range, and the Pacemakers are better at higher revs. I could be wrong.

In addition, if you had paid careful attention to the thread, the JMM headers weren't going to help achieve a new goal that Casper had set. He has said many, many times that they are good headers, just not for what his aims are.

Reread the thread! The closed thread also.

If you read between the lines (re reading the threads will help here!) Casper has said there are other reasons why he chose to take his business elsewhere, that he's choosing not to disclose here! That's his choice, leave it with him. Give the guy a break!

The edit gave very good gains.. but given that the edit was in and totally tuned with the JMM exhaust and the results were not as good as when we then replaced the exhaust and retuned the edit I can safely say the current exhaust system is the better setup.. we are not talking sheep stations with of rwkw better but it is a noticable increase.

Did you even read the first post or are you just trying to stir up a pro-JMM war?
Read it again

So the exhaust came off next and was replaced by a set of the new design Pacemaker 4480’s. This new design certainly seems to have addressed the VCT issues of the past and, with the larger pipe size, higher rpms are not restricted.
Of course, with the removal of the headers the different lengths from the old headers to the new left a bit of a gap. A big gap actually. Initially we were just going to flange in a collector pipe but, in keeping with everything else (and knowing we were going to replace the muffler and cat anyhow) it was felt a “mix and match” exhaust wasn’t going to cut it. So we replaced the entire thing.. more times than I can remember. First set was a great set with all the right specs but, when fitted, didn’t quite line up to tolerances we wanted. Off it came, back it went and in went a different setup which was “almost but not quite” as well So the only option left was to get one fabricated to G&D’s own specifications and that’s exactly what we did. Basically the same sort of setup a the regular G&D cat back for I6’s but up a few notches in maximizing performance (I’ll let Glenn explain it, he’s better at that stuff) The whole exhaust from the collector back was designed to maximize the flow of exhaust gases at high rpm. The muffler and cat on this new G&D system is the same, maximized for high rpm flow of gasses.
So with a totally new exhaust system the edit was then totally retuned to suit the new setup and the gains were there again. The exhaust suited the application better, simple as that.

Got help me if I trade in my PS2 for an XBox then!
If you really want me to make public why I chose to leave JMM then I will... but you wont like what you hear. Instead I'll just say that I had a falling out with them and chose to take my business elsewhere. Simple as that. It happens. Find it as amusing as you like but you need to get over it. I have.

I found it confusing how you were pro JMM, I couldn't get on the forums reguarly for awhile and the next when I jump back on your pumping G&D.. Like you said though you have your reasons they your reasons and lets leave it at that.. I have my reasons for not choosing to spend my mony there also.

Now I got some reading to do and prolly a few trips down south so I can get mine going as fast as she looks.

PS I will be on more now, go away for awhile and you lose so much info..

PPS - I saw your car at the FPV Open Day, didn;t get a chance to come and say Hi though.

Only 2 things I can think of that could be shared by (or similar to) both:
1. Diff gears (4.11s anyone?)
2. Suspension - but Casper already has SSLs, so I doubt that

One other unlikely one - Manual conversion.

Hey Casper! Well done with your mods mate, sounds like you got a great result! Eamon and I will be keeping an eye on how you go at Calder or Heathcote soon, lets hope you get well into the 14s now! I dont think we can make it to Heathcote this time, so all the best with you car mate.

G&D sound like top blokes, there's nothing Id like better than to leave my car there for a while also, just to see what they could do with it. Im thinking they could work some magic on it, given the results with yours. But I think mine has set up problems, namely no LSD and a crap clutch, which would need to be rectified before any other engine mods are done, I think.

Best of luck with stage 2!

Jac

Nope, didnt go. Bad weather, too much humidity. Will probably be rained out.
Plus I have too much to do with the family tonight and prep the BBQ on Sunday.
