How does NSW hoon laws work? Did he get three months impound because of the speed or the other offences count as hoon offences too so he basically got two strikes right off the bat?

I got done for >45 over the limit and only lost my car for a month - but it was in a 100 zone, if I got done at 170 would have lost my car for three months (two hoon strikes straight up)

Of the century....its a public road, and even an experienced race driver would realise the stupidity of it unless it's race day, so track marshals, ambulance etc, etc, I went around there a few times, last time in my VW Transporter van, going up the mountain there is a fairly sweeping left, on the right is the "kitty litter", a little Mazda RX7 was down to the sills, I pull up and ask how fast they were going as it is a public road, the idiot driving said "60 km/h" I said bull****, he could of swerved, oh no we drove in on purpose to see if it worked?

They asked for a tow out, I said no, get the towie to do it, he's probably on the way, and it costs $300 bucks boys ( 2007 ) hope it was worth it, as I left the tow truck pulled up, when I got back to the start finish point a cop car was heading up, probably called by the towie, bloody idiots.........

If you commit a hoon offence and then a subsequent hoon offence, they up the impoundment period.

Drink Driving, Drug Driving, Unlicensed Driving, Driving Suspended are all classified as "Hoon" offences. It will cost likely minimum $3000 to get that car out of impound - if he doesn't - the government gets to keep it and sell it to cover the impoundment costs.

All before you even have your day in court.

Thats the same as us - except the drink driving, drug driving, unlicenced driving and driving suspended only become hoon offences for anyone with prior hoon charges - for 6 years

Lucky the car was not seized and crushed under some "hoon law" like those in WA; I would hate to see that rare collectable crushed.

I wouldn't be surprised if that went missing from the impound yard.

Also, correct that the SA GTs were called Fairmont GTs.

It does look like an SA GT, the pics are not clear enough but the boot badge looks like Fairmont GT and they did run the GS hubcaps, there is a few other tell tails but don't show up in those pics.

Doesn't stack up does it that this 49 year old knob would have enough coin to import this from SA.

To do it properly cost of joining a car club would be minimal - Bathurst Light Car Club holds regular events at Mount Panorama.

Hi Guy's
I go to Bathurst a lot because i only live too hours away and i enjoy the drive mostly on Sundays.

Now you would have to be pretty stupid to go speeding around that peace of road but for some it would be a big temptation.
There are 60 kmh signs and if you don't see them, the locals who live on mount panorama take notice of speeding car's and have phoned Bathurst Police in the past.

The old excuse "Sorry Officer i thought it was a race track" won't work.!

The locals can call the cops all they like. The cops still have to check the speed. Be back in the town before the cops turn up.

The seem to catch plenty of people there, have done for decades but I guess certain people never learn
100 kph in a 60 zone is $900, 157 kph is $2500 and 12 demerit points

One is better of stealing a car nowadays and cutting loose full on, we have a lot of brats in QLD doing such without any regards at all. if they can get your keys to your car they are off smash your car up and get off time and time again regardless.
One on TV of late crashed badly and was revived and next month smashed caught again !

You know what they did back in the 80's and before then, when the copes got brats like so, you got you head punched in and such works wonders with idiots like such.

Cops would make sure that one got the message when dealing with brats who put others lives at stake.

A mate of mine 1980 got caught no lic and overtaking on a hill double white lines, it was a D car that he overtook and they got him in the Station sat him on a chair in the centre of a room and walked around him giving him turtle pecks in the head. he did not like that at all, but then again who likes to see other people killed due to some moron driving like that.

Remember Bluey and that gut of his, Not the gut !
