Ford Telstar windscreen

Bank account is a bit low and I need to replace my 1993 AX Ford Telstar's front windscreen. Do any of the members have any guiding thoughts. A step-by-step would be good. Any pitfalls to watch for would be appreciated

How many members are there on these FF forums? And not one has any idea how to change a 1993 Ford Telstar windscreen? Or is there some secret method being protected. Something like "paintless dent removal". I have tried to watch these guys do their work and they seem to find something else to do on most occasions. Paranoia? Of course!

No need to get grumpy, if there was a member who read this and could help then they would of replied. But alot of people only read threads that grab their attention and unfortunatly the telstar isnt the most appealing subject to read.

But of the tens of thousands of members on here alot of them have probably never had to replace a window and those that have had to replace them usually pay a proffesional to do it for them.

It makes sence to because to tools they use to remove and replace a window correctly and proffesionally are usually worth more then fitting the window itself.

Try contacting a few window replacement mobs and explain your situation, some would rather do the job and get payed off in installments than not get the job at all. If your lucky one of them will have an easydebit system where you agree on paying a certain amount at intervaks that suit both parties.

We do this at work where a customer has an unexpected breakdown and cannot afford the job straight up. We do it, they fill out some paper work and the job gets payed off over time.

Or you could just google it or search youtube

Thanks for the responses though not helpful. By the way, 1:19 am Sat to 1:19 am Sun = 24 hours+ 11 hours to 12:25 pm Sunday = 35 hours. Googled unsuccessfully...
The second post was tongue in cheek, (note paranoia) trying to be humorous. Ah well. No sense of humor either. Myself, my son or my grandson do most of the mechanical work on my car and I have changed windscreens before but the Telstar is a bit different and I am looking for a few pointers. Paying somebody more than $100 an hour for something I can do myself, with some guideance, seems a bit pointless to me on an age pension. Just another thought, what are people doing on this nice rainy Sunday? Out chasing cane toads?

Assuming its a glue in type it's not rocket science

Pop the corner up I used to use wire as a cuter so you just run some through the bit you poped up and get some one on the inside and run it round the adhesive till you've done a lap then lift it out

Clean the old sealer off and put a bead of sikaflex around (a good healthy bead say 1/2 inch sort of thing then drop the new one in ensuring that it doesn't come in to contact with the metal (A Pillars roof and fire wall) and space it evenly so the surround will go back on and not look stupid (a couple of bits of vacuume line does the trick until the sikaflex sets)

DON'T use generic silicon as this promotes rust

Probably wouldn't hurt to phone around as the price for a windscreen bloke to come out and stick in a new one isn't that bad (windscreens obrian will be the dearest you can find)

Also wear a P2 dust mask & eye protection when you do this as you pull the old one out you can get fine fragments of glass dust and that does all sorts of messy stuff to your eyes and it's believed that this same fine dust will become the next asbestos
