Default There are some nice AU's on the market at the moment

I've been keeping an eye on carsales and what the prices are doing for our cars. I spotted some pretty dam nice examples going around. Now this isn't a thread to comment on what you think the car is worth, but more on the front of if you after something different, there are some nice examples out there to be had.

mods - if you feel this thread needs to be locked due to T&C's feel free.

The meteorite Forte I have a soft spot for, for obvious reasons.

But the wagon I gotta give respect to. It's been done pretty nicely.

Those T2's are kick-***. The grey forte is pretty run of the mill. The wagon is terrible.

The T2's are pretty reasonably priced. Can some tell me, why are the T3's more sort after than the T2? Is it due to the year it was made etc? Can someone please explain, as I have always been intrigued but never really took much interest out of ignorance.

T3's are more sought after, because of the engine mate.. It's a 5.6l 342ci stroker from factory..
Also, the bodykit is bigger and overall looks more dramatic..

But yeah, it's the engine that sells them..

Thanks Kris. I knew there was a genuine reason for it. I can now understand why the premium price. But by the sounds of it, it's certainly worth it and probably a good investment as a collector.

Great video Kris. Some serious work went into those engines. Awesome.

Can someone tell me what the main differences were between the TE and TS in a nut shell please?

To put it very basically TE is based on Falcon/Fairmont level whereas TS is based on Fairmont/Ghia.

Thanks macman. Did all the T-series cars come with Brembo's or were they a factory option?

Besides the back bar, I dont mind that AU actually! But 20k is a bit rich! I'd be over the moon if I got more 15 for my AU, and it's got a bit more cash poured into it then that has!

I quite like that Forte, looking for something similar for my missus!

I made an enquiry on that Black T2. I asked about the wheels as I thought they were a S1 T-Series wheels, but the guy told me these are what came with the car. He bought it off his boss. I also asked about the engine cover. He has it, but it was broken by the ford dealer at service. The guy is currently living OS and his dad has the car. So he's keen to shift it.

I also like the wagon. It's different. Just don't like the mesh or the wheels.

Yes there are some nice AU's on the market atm

02 AUIII Fairmont with the neatest LPG install possible and sunroof:
http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...spx?R=11289462

And my personal opinion of the best possible AU combination ever: The mighty AUIII Futura Egas - in metallic Blue:
http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...spx?R=10814863

Pro Tip: when linking carsales, all you need is the R equals number. All the rest is just your search filters that make no difference when just posting a car.

haha, sorry mate. It's something that hasn't been the highlight of my interest. I've pretty much buried my head in boost information and suspension tech stuff that I hadn't taken the time to really delve into the T-series side. But I have always been intrigued with the T-series stuff, its only now that Im taking in the more interesting facts.

No. Brembo's were a factory option (at the time I purchased my T3 anyway).
Comments passed about the autos. Do not discount or underestimate them. They are ever bit as quick and match the manuals in performance. I know which one of my two I prefer driving in city traffic that for sure.

Nice.

I remember we bought an AUIII egas futura to be a cab in early 2005 - the car was still in warranty. It was white, it looked brand new in every respect, water even beaded off the paint. It cost $15k and we turned it into a cab. That was the first and only time I ever found turning a falcon into a cab sacrilege.

I have purposely made my AUII look like an AUIII Futura - clear indicators, metal intech badges, sideskirts, painted backs of mirrors, chrome striping in the door guards & bumpers, 18 spoke alloys etc. If my AUII ever went to the great cabrank in the sky, i'd seriously consider buying that AUIII futura.

I too have made mu AUII look like a 3 with the clear side repeaters Mr Hardware. I think that little change alone makes a big difference to the look of a S1 or S2.

Here's another T1 with some interesting mods done to it.

I also like the wagon. It's different. Just don't like the mesh or the wheels.
Those wheels on the black T2 are original. The Azzurro's were actually still an option on T2. T1 'flower' pattern wheels were standard.

That said, it is very very rare to see a T2 that did not get Azzurro's fitted.
