Default Go for 6% more power or leave it?

As the thread says..I have a mod up my sleeve that can give me up to 6% increase in power across the board.Should I try it or leave the car alone? All mods have the risk of going backwards.

What do you guys think?

I think it would depend on the cost really. If you had 200kw it would be about a 16kw gain (I think?) Weigh that up with the cost of this mod, and any possible damage that could result. My 2 cents.

Its going great but could go better. To many have come undone this way...Its generally harder to get back to if you stuff it...This is a tough call..

Exclamation

What would the expected cost of this 6% be?

I'm asking because you're probably going to need some extra coin to deal with the extra 6% stress on your diff and gearbox. LOL!

Don't do it.

Well, going from what Stav's said so far:
-up to 6% increase in power across the board
-All mods have the risk of going backwards.
-its generally harder to get back to if you stuff it

I'm intrigued...!

Is it this?!

that mod would cost you 6%. The amount of heat in that part of the engine bay will have negative effects on performance. You need to get the coldest possible air into the engine whereas that mod, your getting hot air from above the exhaust, and straight from the radiator fan into the engine.

He wasn't being serious. Some idiot is selling the car on eBay.

For $80 the upgrade MUST be a stripe kit

6% increase for $80? I'll take two please Stav. :

I have spent more than that for less.

Surely it must be something that can be undone if it doesn't work out?

I can't see how anyone can help you with any worth while advice when you don't mention what the mod is. If it some sort of secert then really what is the point of this thread? Not only that but odds are if you said what it was there would be a fair chance one or more people here would of had some sort of experiance in whatever it is.

Its not about the mod .It is about the politics. Potential to screw up a car that obviously is running pretty well at the potential gain of 6%. I suppose that if I stuff it I can return it to unmodified...with alot of elbow grease.

Well I have thought long and hard about it.I can run the car as is this season and then just modify a spare on the garage floor.I cn stick it on after I run it and then can see how good my idea is. Don't let curiosity kill the cat. if it works out I am thinking as hobby that I might start porting heads for you blokes and shipping them out with a decent cam.

Nar its just obvious stuff which none of the au boys really concentrate on....

To go fast we need fuel, air ,fire and to not plug it all up ..an exhaust.Thats it!!
After reading thousands of technical reference books with maths/theory that boggles ones mind I realised that they just derail our basic journey. Have fun and don't complicate things.

Even though it is over the exhaust ..on a cool night that pod will give more power than the standard intake or most peoples long steel intake pipes .

All the same you are asking peoples opinions on if you should or shouldn't do a mod you are not mentioning, it doesn't bother me that you don't want to spill the beans, I just can't see how someone could advise one way or the other without knowing what it is. Some people will just say do it, improve power, but without knowing what it is and the possible out comes any advise of the sort is worthless.
