Apparently it's only used to tow and push cars at the proving ground. Nothing special.

Im left wondering how there is such a high demand for the new/last XR8?

Everyone ive spoken to didnt know there was a new falcon, let alone an XR8, nor they even stopped making them for awhile.

My only guess is all the allocated XR8's have gone to Fordforums members, friends & families of production workers & ford dealer employees.

Obviously you're not talking to the wrong people.
My wife wouldn't know about the new Falcon because she's not a car person.

I think with a production run of a rumored 1200 only. I think there are a heap of fans/enthusiasts that have bought one. After all, it is a GT RSPEC for under $60k.

When you really think about it 1200 cars for 14 months is not much,
Especially when you consider that the likes of ranger that sold well over 20,000 units last year. It doesn't take much to have 1200 customers in a population of over 20 million people.

Did these people have any intention of buying one anyway?
Sure there are alot of people who dont know about the new Falcon or the XR8, but those people probably dont really care either.

Hey spyman, have you seen the fgx FPV range 'what could have been' sketches and designs? Any chance we will ever get to see em.

Hey guys

I had my hot laps at Hampton Downs yesterday and all I can say is WOW!!! I got to do 3 laps with John McIntyre in the passenger seat and then he took me for 2 laps. The first thing I was aware of was that the seating position at it's lowest point was really good, I certainly wouldn't have wanted it any lower. The power and sound from the supercharged V8 was insane!! Definitely a beast of a car!! Here is some pics I took and a real short vid of the car on the front straight at 210kph. The whole run was professionally filmed with cameras and go-pro's so as soon as it is edited and I get a copy I will add a decent video.

Cheers
Dwayne

You have just made my wait even harder... When I finally made my order official I thought this wait would be easy... I still have my turbo which is nice to drive... Your photos show how good these cars can look... Add to that the track time you've enjoyed and man... I want it now! Like a little kid in a lollie shop... This waiting game sucks! But I do know it will be worth the wait.......

I was gob smacked at the performance!! He said the quickest he could get his last supertourer to on the straight was 242 kph and that is a dedicated race car so considering the weight difference and the fact the XR8 was on road tyres (Dunlops) that's pretty bloody impressive!!

I woke up one September 2014 morning out of a bad dream....Ford is closing down in a couple of years! What am I doing? What the hell can I do? That day, I noticed the cover of the Wheels magazine with a gold Falcon XR8. I bought my first Wheels magazine in about 10 years and started the ball rolling.
Went to my nearest Ford dealer and put down a deposit for an auto XR8, no questions asked.
I joined FordForums about 2 weeks after that. My Dad worked for Ford from 1970 to 1996 and tested some nice Falcons in his pre-delivery inspector job. I have no other relatives at Ford.
So, I am your average Joe Blow the retiree about to relive his boyhood dreams with a homegrown muscle car.

.
Those people probably aren't the target market anyway. Ford may not be be advertising the Falcon but over the last 6 months every second car magazine has had a picture of the Falcon on the front cover and it's also been shared on social media by every auto review website. It's also been reviewed in all the major newspapers. On top of all that it was also featured at the Bathurst 1000 and is being raced in V8 supercars. If they don't know there is a new Falcon after all that the there is a fairly good chance they weren't going to buy one anyway. They're probably the type of people who think that all Holden cars are built in Australia.
The demand for the cars is coming from enthusiasts, people who bleed blue and in most cases are fulfilling a dream of owning an Australia made V8 Ford Falcon. Simple as that.

Thats a very round mulberry bush we're circling. Everyone is entitled to their opinion thats life no winners. Softer it is to me, but it has a classy look to me that makes that appropriate, classiest looking butt on a Falc ever, period. Jims bodily adventures are showing that with the FG wing etc it can look plenty tough too.

Why the wait? Are the parts not ready to go? Or are they spacing out production as they would rather trickle along than pump them out?

Building the motors is the problem. I think they can only build 3 a day now. They need to stagger the build.

How long between stages with the XR8 build. I received the " ready for you new adventure" email from Ford 3 weeks ago. Can't wait for Stage 2 when the car starts to get built!

Great result in the v8s at the Grand Prix. 1/2 ford in all 4 races... Not a bad start for the FGX!

It's pretty amusing though, considering the XR8 next year will be reborn with the same spec engine as the FG GT, could you imagine being a HSV owner forking out all that money on a brand new GTS, then pulling up to the lights next to a FH XR8 and then sitting side by side all the way to 100 and beyond
Even more embarrasing would be the lower spec variants of the VF in HSV's stable getting whopped by a factory XR8.
