Default oil leak

doe's anyone know if it is easer to replace the timing cover and sump gasket by taking the motor out ocan it be done in place.

whats leaking? the timing cover or the sump gasket? because you can reseal the timing cover without dropping the sump, fairly easy job as i did mine last weekend, but don't know about the sump?

you should be able to jack the car up and remove the crossmember to drop the sump. i got one out with the motor in the car in an ea, but that was a pain...

i think the lower suspension control arms bolt into the crossmember, so this is why you need to jack the front end up. shouldn't be a very difficult job...

i'm sure someone will tell you otherwise if it can't be done.
