The GT-H was apparently close to production. The engine had already been developed alongside the Miami, and added an intercooler. Rumour was Vermillion Fire was going to a GT-H only paint colour. Stress along the firewall killed it off though, cause FPV and Ford apparently argued over who should pay for the solution to fix it.

They were the rumours at the time anyway. The only thing FPV officially owned up to was the intercooled miami version was developed alongside the non cooled Miami, cause they said they developed 2 versions. Was ready to go.

An FG wagon would have been my next car if that were to come through! But the article draws a very poor example of what an FG wagon could be.

Quote:
While no images or descriptions of the FG wagon have emerged, we’ve pieced together a design using carry-over floorpan and doors of the BF MkIII, but added a Mondeo-inspired curved roofline and integrated the C-pillar into the window line.

Im sure I've seen much better examples on this forum!

A late model performance panel van would have been nice, maybe even a 4x4 panel van, Holden "Overlander" concept comes to mind.

There were three versions of the Miami V8 developed but the most powerful version was never released into production.

A diesel I6 would have been an absolute weapon.
Heck, Toyota could have bought units of it when the 4.5V8 diesel began giving troubles and LC owners back traded to the 1HD-FTE

Unofficial figures were 315, 335 and 375. Our calibration engineers said it went like stink.

And they honestly believe that that “pre school” attempt at a picture is what it was going to look like ?

The media is just rubbish and should be fined for rubbish they “put out there”.

It’s there own fault the phrase “Fake news” has been owned by Trump.

I wrote the article and did the photoshops. My first ever attempt.I accept I need more practise but I’ll get there and did my best. If you don’t like it and think it’s not up to scratch, I’ll take that on board and do my best to improve but if you wanna get downright nasty about it then that’s really more of a reflection of you than my work.

I’m not part of the big media establishment I just do this as a personal hobby because I love cars and I love fords and wanted to put something interesting together.

Also I don’t get your last sentence- trump just calls anything that doesn’t paint him in a favourable light ‘fake news.’

Did it have an overboost like GTF? Someone should build a Vermillion Fire replica.

The photoshops needed to start with an FG to get the side swage lines correct - carrying over the AU-BA-BF door pressings visually kills any thought of it being an FG based vehicle, and with an FG nose, and updated rear 1/4 pressings, they would have spent the money to reskin doors - that's cheap compared to other sheetmetal changes.

Respect the work and effort you've gone through putting together the article FalconXV. Its a great attempt and is appreciated, well done. We're a bit passionate here so always demand greater then the best! I loved the BA wagon when I owned it and always wanted Ford to continue with it. Did not mean any disrespect with the drawing attempt, but constructive criticism is it could have been better, however I could not even come close to that effort, so good job.

Im sure if you asked nicely there maybe some photoshop guru's here on this forum that may lend you their attempts at the FG wagon.

There was a thread on this forum that had detailed pics of it with the doors open.

I can't remember what it was called, but maybe search using the term "prototype" and you'll find it.

The first 2 were the same engine though, just the tune was different. Mechanically identical, and went on the market as the GS 315 and GT 335.

Holden’s Sportswagon never really added volume, it mostly took away sales from the sedan.

If the option was there, I would have opted for an FG wagon over the sedan - but only if it was a short-wheelbase like the VE/VF Sportwagon. The LPi boot floor is about where a wagon floor would run too.
